Crosman intermounts on breech instead of barrel?

I have the Crosman intermounts that attach to the barrel of my Benjamin 392 that gives me the 3/8" dovetail needed to mount a scope. But my scope is a bit too far forward and I have to lean into it to get a good sight picture with the scope I have and it has decent eye relief.

I was given a nice Discovery scope that is more suited to an airgun, but it has less eye relief than the T/C I'm currently using. I have seen people using one intermount on the breech and one on the barrel, but I was wondering, wouldn't that put the scope at too much of a cant? Beyond being able to shim it into place?

I was wondering if I would be able to use both the intermounts on the breech even though it is a bigger diameter than the barrel, would they even fit?

Read this post buy the cheapest correct I inch or 30mm RWS lockdown mounts to shift scope closer to eye mounted on top of the existing intermounts as is. Buy the correct one and bonus it has droop compensation that you seem to need.

I underestimated how PO'ed the wife is about me getting the gun in the first place, so buying anything else right now is out of the question. Maybe I'll just leave the set up the way it is for now and take the time to research the mounts a little better.

You could put BOTH rings on the FORWARD part of the scope tube to move it back closer to your eye.

I just might try that after work tomorrow

Just look up “Cantilever scope mount” on amazon...they have them in dovetail. Ask some 392 owners if they have ever used it. I’ve only ever used a 392 with iron sights. I had a similar issue with my Mini-14, and how I figured it out was looking through trouble shooting forums on google. You might try that with the search button above, especially checking the Benjamin tutorial box. Alternatively google around with a search like “scope 392 airgunnation.” The difficulty of the search function on this site is frustrating, but that is because it isn’t on the same level of algorithmic proportion google and other search sites. You can also check some other forms like GTA, but I think your best bet is finding it with a google search. Tell us what you find. Sorry your wife is mad! My wife is always telling me to buy more guns, haha, but I am so conservative with money that I never do (I’ve got two daughters to pay for).

It may help just to get the right mount for you rings. Baker has this mount for your gun that will bring your scope back to where it belongs and help make it less likely your barrel will be torn loose from the tube as well. A lighter smaller style scope helps keep the gun in good order too.

Mac1 has a couple of these that will fit many guns.

I did this with a cheap BSA pistol scope and later with a shotgun scope on my Crosman 342. It werqed very well in this configuration. The scope is light has a very long eye relief and leaves plenty of room for a hand for pumping. Fergot where I picked up the scope mount though.
