These full auto bb guns are a blast to shoot. I looked at the DPMS and thinking of all the co2 I would go through shooting it I bought the Barra 400e polymer. It is something how similar these guns look, the cocking handle, the mag release, the sights the mag and safety switch. Mark

Mine has a problem. The spring loaded bb follower is supposed to slide down far enough to latch open so BBs can be loaded thru the round hole. However, something is preventing the square latch thingie from traveling all the way to the bottom and latching. So it is very difficult to hold the little square thing down, under spring pressure while loading BBs into the hole. I guess I'll disassemble the magazine and check it out. I've seen on the 'net that some people have had problems getting bbs in between the coils of the spring. If that is the problem with mine the bbs must be in the spring below the square notch.

The Barra had a problem with the mag also. I called Barra and was told to loosen one screw half a turn and it fixed the problem. The mag would not go onto the piece attached to the barrel. loosened the screw up and now it fits tight with no play and feeds with no problems. I have read also that spraying wd40 or something similar will help with loading on the Barra. Mark

I have checked it out and it appears that the spring is too long and is being fully compressed before the latch can reach the notch it is supposed to lock into. Not only will the slide not lock into the loading position but the bb follower will not clear the hole for the bbs to drop in. I cou;ld cut 3/8 - 1/2 inch of compressed length off of the spring and fix the problem but I'm concerned that then the spring might not be strong enough to feed the bbs properly. I'd like to know that I can get a replacement spring before I cut the original.

The DPMS goes for $180, the Barra is $300. I look at it like this , I will save alot of money not having to buy c02 and shoot a whole lot more. I just have to charge the battery around 1000 shots. Mark
You'll save plenty on magazines too. Crosman mags are $50 each. Barras are $20.

I've got both and the Barra is the better gun, but the Crosman is more realistic in its function. The Crosman just operates similarly to an M4 and sounds and recoils more like one.

I removed the spring, again, and actually dipped it in oil before reinstalling it into the magazine. Only by using a small screwdriver was I able to compress the spring enough to fill the magazine with BBs. I have not emptied the mag yet because it's 3am and I don't want to wake anyone. I hope to be able to compress the spring enough to latch the follower back a fill the mag without a tool after this first magazine, or two. I'll find out in the morning.

I've put 3 or 4 mags thru it and I still have to use a screwdriver to compress the spring enough to put BBs in the hole. I really don't want to spend 50+ for another mag. I'll probably get rid of the gun instead.
Sorry to hear that, I would still try cutting a couple of coils off the spring before getting rid of it. If you are not having to compress the spring very much with the screwdiver, I would try that first. Mark
