Hello ladies & gents, new to the site but an old hand at stuff that goes BANG as well as POOF LOL.
Quick resume of who the hell I am
:
63 yr old Canadian HVAC contractor living in Quebec Canada
Own a 2nd home in Cape Coral FL (mentioned 'cause it makes shipping firearm-related stuff much easier, rather than trying to ship to Canada)
Have owned firearms since the second I moved out of my anti-gun parents' home at 23
Have an obscenely large collection of firearms, handguns and rifles/shotties
Looking for a mount for my doveless (not loveless) 1400. I've had this rifle for the last 50 yrs and it still packs a punch. But my 63 yr old eyes ain't what they used to be...
Ordered and received a set of mounts from AGS (Crosman 459MT Mounts, CR-459MTC) here in Canuckistan. Got them bolted to the barrel, but the mounts move with a bit of effort, so no good.
Options are;
- Find a set of bolt-on barrelclamp-style mounts specifically for the 1400
- Try to get the above AGS mounts to grip tightly by Dremeling horizontal grooves into the inside of the mounts where it grips the barrel for more "bite"
- Resign myself to shooting open sights. I'm not half bad even with these old eyes, but definitely not my first choice
Suggestions anyone? I've already done a search and can only find texts on machining dovetails into the barrel.
Thanks in advance for any help..
