Crosman 1377 pistol for small game

New guy here...first post. Seems like I saw somewhere replacement barrels & telescoping stock for this pistol. Would like to know where, if available, and what is the effectiveness of this airgun for small game.

I have taken squirrel with this in its present form but would prefer a rifle for increased range. Is it worth making the mods to this or should I just buy a rifle? If a new purchase is the way to go, would appreciate suggestions. I am a budget-minded shooter/hunter and want to put my money into whatever makes most sense for small game & pests.

Although I worked over a PA77 (same gun really) with a steel breech, and other goodies, I wouldn't do it again with the intent of using it on small game—it just isn't powerful enough save for very close in shots. A 2300 or similar CO2-powered pistol can be easily converted to HPA, which is better suited for the intended use (birds and squirrels).

I'm in my 50's I can't remember not owning one,,,hunted with it and used to dispatch while trapping,,,my son and I do a lot of pigeon hunting with it too,,,,,.i won't be with out one !! And mine are bone stock too!,,,,,,,,but. That may soon change . JeffW

Welcome to the world of mods! If a tight budget is in your way (as with me) an inexpensive .22 break barrel rifle is the way to go. I have a 1377 myself and have only given it minor mods (larger pump arm, fiber-optic front sight, polished trigger and sear and improved air valve) $47 for pistol and $96 in mods so far.

I built one up with a 24" barrel steel breach put a crosman stock on it flat top pistons and valve polished up the trigger bits tuned it tuned it tuned it most accurate gun I have ever owned. Now you can order them straight from the crosman custom shop with out the flat tops
