Crosman 10.5 pellets, tin verses box

Absolutely ... While I no longer covet crosman .177 pellets as in years past, the fact of matter with many who did or still do is that all the pellets in said boxes come from the same run within the same die. Sizing and weight had in past years always been much more consistent. Find a DIE Lot and MFG date you liked you purchased all you could.

Where TIN package pellets are BULK collected from many dies / machines then packaged being a more random mix & match of quality based upon how well or not so well each die was making said pellets.

While MOST box lots have been clean and well made, had over the years opened boxes to find a LOT of Lead Chaff while is likely just the near last to end filling of a production run / bins volume into a box.

The 10.5gr heavies used to be one of my favorites but unfortunately their quality has declined in recent years. The boxes are supposed to be from a single die and therefore very consistent but these days the head sizes vary and physical defects like pronounced parting lines seem to be the norm. The cheaper ones in tins from 2012 - 2013 were significantly better than the boxed ones today.

The upside is they are good enough for casual shooting and can be had pretty cheap from Amazon on occasion.
