Yet another cappy rainy afternoon here in New England.....what to do? Call up my bud Mike for some Crazy 8s! No...not the card game....but break out the R8s!!!

Mike brought one of his and I got out my old Beeman and down to my man cave range for some quality bench time with these classics. They didn't disappointed!

Mike had an old RWS 4x32 scope on his that we quickly swapped out for a Williams Peep site for open site shooting. Mine has the old 66R Beeman scope with a muzzle break. Both were a blast to shoot.

The peep site presented the greater challenge ...of course. But after a few tweaks to the windage, it became very predictable. I managed some decent groups with it.

Mike was all over the scoped version! He got down to tiny one hole groups on my 20 yard range. He really enjoyed my "rig". The classic style of the Gowdy stock coupled with that old Beeman scope waned nostalgic for us both. "Looks like it belongs on the cover of a Beeman catalog." he said. I agreed.. Made you yearn for days of old!!

All in all these old beauties still represent the pinnacle of the Beeman line for me. The big brother of the R7, the R8 cocks easily and delivers a consistent accuracy with a smooth shot cycle. You just don't get weary from shooting it. In fact, I could hardly wait to get off the next shot.

Although some folks on here are tied of punching paper, I find it challenging and rewarding...especially this time of year when there are few options for shooting. Perhaps you bored folks should try a little friendly competition with a fellow airgunner. All I know is that it's always a great time shooting classics with a friend.
