I’ve been using an airgun on them for about five years even in situations where I could use a firearm. It’s about noise. Noise at night where I live and where my camp is raises a poacher flag immediately. And it just plain old attracts attention to a person who’s legally doing something. I don’t like to be bothered or have to explain myself. Or have monkey see monkey do guys suddenly wanting to jump on board.I've done plenty with PBS from. 22cb(airgun energy but round nose bullet) up to 7 rem mag, the airgun would let me do it just on the edge of civilization more quietly and safely.
I think I'm just going to need to try and report back.
Mega challenge.Try it!!! You may find what I did. I am getting addicted to calling coyotes. Killing them is secondary. They are a serious challenge with an air gun.

For me, because I spent half my life coyote free in the areas that now have them, I view them not one notch above a sewer rat. I don’t try or find anything glamorous about hunting them. I just want every one of them that I see with my eyeballs dead. Over the last 25 years or so I’ve begun to understand the eastern coyote. At my camp when they show up on a cell cam, I am loaded up and driving there within 24 hours. They seem to migrate through areas and I hunt these windows. I also see them while squirrel hunting on occasion. I have an airgun so it has to be capable. I did take out an average female with a .22 Hybrid 950fps shot to the boiler room. It was in a big white oak hollow. It ran, slowed, then flopped over. Unfortunately for it there was no nasty thicket close enough before the clock expired.
Final note different subject. Dry lube testing still going very well with that particular combo. Thanks again for redirecting my focus.
@Cantona256 Who makes these .30 cal air rifles? Where can I view these specs and purchase?…Plenty of higher end guns in .25 do that and more. In .30 150-200fpe is not crazy.
Fx, Air Force (in .308), Skout, pretty sure the Urugan will hit that, even the AF texan will do 190fpe in .257, taipan is claiming 150fpe in .25 with the power kit. not sure about specs with the Huben K1 or the western rattler/sidewinder ext… it’s like all things with airguns you probably have to do some tuning/ tinkering to get them setup that way but it’s not really a short list. I don’t even know much about the unregulated guns besides Air Force but I’d bet there’s some AEA or Evanix that will put up a those numbers too.@Cantona256 Who makes these .30 cal air rifles?
