could this work as a backup to YH?

One of my local airgun shops is listing this dual head - broken compressor for a price of a new YH. If I can find a source for spare parts I would take it for a backup. It looks like an interesting winter project.

What would you do? ($500 CAD = $390 USD and I guess I could make it better deal)

Do I desperately need it? Probably NOt. I just rebuilt my YH in October a complete compressor head for $50 and this can take me long way if I pay more attention running it in the future.

But as an investment is this New Warrior compressor worth it to spend some $# on it?

bigHUN,

For me and my three PCPs, I'd say no. If I felt the need for a back-up for my YH, I'd just buy one, instead of spending, at least, the same, on an unknown, like this. If you've got lots of PCPs, or bottles, that require frequent long fill times, or you want to start a side-line business filling PCPs for friends, neighbors or an air gun club, that would be something else. Buying and fixing for resale is another thing to consider. My guess, being part of an air gun shop, this machine has been looked at by a technician who ruled out any simple fix. Check price, and availability, of parts for a rebuild and go from there. That some employee abused this machine causing serious internal damage, would be the risk you'd take. Best of Luck with your decision.

I agree with all said above, and definitely I am not an impulse buyer.

I am a diy, I will at first try to fix it if possible vs buying always a new again and again (this is just with anything else I have tools and toys and hobby's in my house).

Also, I am shooting a lot (as much the weather permits, but Canada here and we are seriously running into a winter). I have four fireman larger scba tanks and all of these usually refilling in a single day, maybe ones a month.

These were the reason made me think about jumping into that project, but I must admit I am not enough smart alone ;)

As a point of conversation, if this air compressor were in proper working order, and placed for sale, what would be a reasonable sale price? Considering the list price of $1699.99 and one and a half years of commercial operation, my guess would be between $600-700.

In its current condition, I'd say it isn't worth the risk for anything over $100, and free shipping.

why the shop is getting rid of it....

I know that shop is a one man shop, it is not really a shop it is some e-commerce thingy like an ebay warehouse for airgun stuff, no store front no walkins, online orders only. I knew for them for ten years and back then I ordered from them my very first QB78, but the products they dealing with is more like an average WM quality and price - my interest is more refined. Btw I was just looking for pellets when I ran into the add.

Sent them an email last night and I don't like the answer,

I decided a no go.
