I need to ask a question. If I need to install the BSA .25 barrel in my fx Impact, I will have to turn down the dia to 14mm.

The bore is not concentric with the outer dia.

In this situation should I take the bore as Centre and remove the material around the outer dia or I should ignore the bore alignment and just remove the material to come down to 14mm.

I understand that for 1/2" unf threading I will take the bore at muzzle as centre.

I don't mean to come across the wrong way here, but WHY? I mean the FX barrels can be crazy accurate, and there's a barrel combo(Superior, Superior Heavy, etc.) that will work with almost any projectile. I'm not asking as an FX fanboy or anything, rather I'm genuinely curious about your reasons. Is it for added weight shooting from a bench, or do you just happen to have a great shooting barrel on hand? With that being said, I did machine an Alfa Precision .177 barrel for my Maverick, since there is not currently an FX barrel that can handle heavy .177 slugs. The AP barrel is hammer forged as well. Fortunately, the AP barrel I have had a bore that was only very slightly off center on the breech end. I wasn't enough to cause any loading/accuracy issues. Thank goodness too, because I don't have a 4 jaw chuck.

I can understand about the bore not being perfectly centered at both ends. I've seen that on a lot of air gun barrels for sure. There's often one end that is perfect, and the other that is just a bit off.

How long is the barrel you need to turn? Do you need to turn the entire barrel, or just enough to fit the action? The problem I can see is chatter which happens frequently on long unsupported parts. I've been a job shop machinist for 38 years if you are wondering.

I just want to machine half the barrel that will go inside fx impact. Barrel is 24" long so around 12 to 14" is to be turned down.

Thank you

I have seen all fx liners shooting good. But did you ever see tha BSA .25 old stock barrel shooting?

If yes you will get the answer.

How does it shoot Donny?

Wonderful with the 22 grain slugs anywhere from 40-50 fpe! I haven't done as much testing as I'd like with other weights though.

I'm not judging, I was just curious is all :) I haven't personally witness one of those BSA barrels shooting, but I've heard good things.
