Converting my Compatto Sniper XR, “self-regulating” to regulated? Any opinions?

I have a recently purchased Compatto Sniper XR in .177 / 4.5mm, but though it has a consistent shot count over 50 - 60 shots, I mean consistent, STD Dev, 2.7 FPS I want more. The previous version of the Compatto had a Huma regulator installed, thus had a higher shot count over the new version because of increased efficiency new version does not. HR vs. XR version. I love the gun, but like most want more. :) :p

Huma sells a regulator for the Compatto for 85 euros, and I guess it can be installed, but I don’t want to void the warranty, I have had the gun 3 weeks.

I emailed Brocock with my question if first can the conversion be done if done by an authorized dealer / air gun smith without voiding the warranty.

Any opinions on if Brocock will give the nod that it is okay?

Okay....this is interesting Update....This British gun shop says the Sniper XR version comes WITH a HUMA regulator. Brocock’s website doesn’t mention a HUMA regulator in the Compatto Sniper version, but the again my compatto for 50 shots only used half or so of the cylinder pressure at 12 ft/lbs setting for 50 plus shots.

Can anyone confirm the information this British dealer is saying about the Sniper XR version of the new Compatto? Thank you in advance for doing so.

According to HardAirMagazine with the exception of the "base XR", all other XR's re Huma Regulated.

All Brocock XR series air rifles, save for the base XR model, include a HUMA regulator system. This system has been developed by the Dutch regulator specialists in conjunction with the Brocock team.

Here are the models they list:?

Brocock XR
Brocock Sniper XR
Brocock Commander XR
Brocock Concept HR

Based on this, I would think the "Sniper XR" is Huma regulated.

Thanks all...well, Brocock needs to update their page where they describe the product because for the description for the Compatto Sniper XR has the same specs as the Compatto XR. But L.Leon I see what you mean, I looked up the manual and here is what I guess you saw. BUT....weighs a TENTH of a pound more over the standard Compatto XR, so no wonder it feels so heavy!!!

I actually asked Brocock this same question on Instagram and the reply I got was: Direct your question to “insert web address here”

Anyway, it was interesting because I noticed the same thing & also there’s a lack of the Huma label on the gun. Their regulated models usually say it on the outside.

The Huma "label" is the regulated manometer. It says Huma on it.

I have the new Sniper XR and it is Huma regulated. I thought the Sniper version of both the Bantam and Compatto were all Huma regulated - at least in the HR line before the XR came out.

Agreed from what I read that the Compatto XR is the unregulated version and the Compatto Sniper XR is the Hum reg'ed version, just like the Bantam.

Seems like maybe as a cost saving there is no second manometer and it's simply an internal regulator in the air tube. If that's the case, maybe try removing the air tube and confirm the regulator.

Looking at your initial post I'd say with a SD of 2.7 you are in regulated territory. Considering the spec is only 40 shots I'd say you are doing pretty good getting 50-60. At this point I think you're in tuning territory and the need for more details. What pellet and weight are you shooting? What fps are you shooting? Once we have that detail it may make your shot count make more sense. Seems the air tube is 400cc, what is the recommended fill pressure? What are you pressure are you filling too? What pressure do you stop the shot count? Can you tell by the pressure and fps when it comes off reg - that might give an idea where it is set?

As an example: My Bantam Sniper XR came with the reg up over 150. It's settled in after a few hundred shots and I've tuned it right at 150bar. In .22 I'm getting ~80 shots at 32-35 fpe (depending on pellet used) from a 480cc bottle from a 250bar fill down to 150bar. This is pushing the JSB 18.13gr @ 890fps.
