The weather was pretty decent yesterday other than some gusty and shifting winds. My carbon fiber liner for my .25 barrel came in and I installed that and decided that while I waited for that to cure I would give the .30 barrel a shot. The only pellets I had on hand was a tin of the JSB 50.15's and a new tin of Daystate's. With my MkII I could never get those to shoot worth a dang, so I figured I would just kill some time and shoot them up to get rid of them. I set the bench out at 50 yards initially and fired a few shots to figure out the holdover I would need since my scope was zero'd for the .25's. The holdover was pretty significant, but I was pretty surprised at the accuracy... I didnt set up the chronograph so I have no idea what they were shooting at as I wasn't expecting much. My .25's were at 927 fps during the last session. This was my first 5 shot group at 50 after 3 sighters. To say I was happy was an understatement! The winds were not super strong for this group and was coming from directly behind me.
I decided to move the bench back to the furthest I can go on my property currently and that was 83 yards. I rechecked the holdver and then fired a series of 6 5 shoot groups over about 20 minutes. The winds got pretty squirrelly and I waited several times for them to die down. You can really see it in the target as to what direction they were blowing... I would estimate they were pushing 15 mph at a few points.
All things considered, I am really, really happy with those results. There was zero tuning and zero scope adjustment from the .25's, just some holdover to get those kind of results from a pellet I had given up on with my MkII. I am really excited to give some other pellets and slugs a try when my order arrives at some point, but in the meantime I have another tin of these to play with. I need to break out the chronograph and see what they are shooting at and maybe play with a tune some and see what happens.
