Took my son to a local farm and ranch store (Murdoch's) last night after baseball practice. While there we went to the rifle and hanggun section to pick up some targets and pellets as they also deal in Airguns and Air Rifles. This is the store he bought the .177 version of the ASP20 with synthetic stock last year, had they had a .22 caliber one at the time he would not have purchased the .177. Well needless to say he was not impressed with the .177 so with my blessings he sold it and made back all but $25.00.
While there we noticed that they had two ASP20's on the shelf, the last time we were there after his purchase in September we had bought one of the two .177 they had on the shelf. Noticing this curiosity my son checked them them out again. All I can say is his face litup and he had that quiet now what do I as he wave with his arm to get my attention. There sitting on the shelf was what he was looking for the long out of stock .22 caliber ASP20 with synthetic stock, no scope priced at the manufactures suggested retail price of $399.00.
I told my son if he gave me what he had left of the money he got back on the sale of his former .177 ASP20 I would buy it for him, he said sure thing. We took it up to the counter and while checking out the salesman said they were gald to see another one of these leave the store as they were way to expensive to sell when sitting next to the much cheaper Benjamin Nitro somthing? and Gamo Swarm Fusion.
I asked him when they got more of these in as the .22 caliber had been out of stock for a long time. The salesman told me they didn't get more, this one had been returned to the store unopened/unused with sales receipt so they we able to take it back. The salesman said the old rancher just never found the time to use it and could not justify the expense of keeping it in the box. I told my son he was lucky to find this one and to take care of it, never sell it as this made in the USA air rifle is no longer being produced and again he got it for $399.00, which just goes to show with a little luck and patience you may still be able to find them at a local store.
As for a scope not a problem, as an early birthday present I gave him a Hawke Airmax scope that I had planned on using on my Beeman Santa Rosa .20 R1.
