Considering a Uragan--.30, 700mm barrel

For quite some time I have liked the looks of the Uragan. I believe I am to a point where I may start watching the classifieds.

My preference is for a .30 with the 700mm barrel. I cast an NOE 300-55 bullet that I have decent luck with, my hope would be the Uragan and that slug would be compatible and easily tuned in the 100-125fpe range.

A couple of specific questions-----what plenum sizes are available? Are caliber swaps possible, if so what is the level of effort? Anything you hate about the gun?

Is there any real reason to go Uragan 2 vs the original?

I would love to hear from actual owners--the good, bad, and ugly. Thank you in advance for your input.

I could be wrong but I don’t think you can get the standard Uragun in 700mm length. My friend has one but it only has a 500 mm barrel. I think the u2 would produce more power.
I just bought that noe pellet mold used. Haven’t got to try it out much yet. Are you able to turn out pellets that Shoot accurately? Do you use soft lead or wheel weight alloy? Which one works better?

The mold I mentioned is a bullet mold not the pellet mold. It is a rather easy mold to use, I am not a very experience caster and I can produce pretty consistent bullets with it. I do have the pellet mold as well. Pure lead seems to work better for pellets, at least in my limited experience.

As a novice caster, one piece of advice I wish I would have taken sooner was adding a PID. Since building a PID casting has become a lot less frustrating. I have been able to focus more effort on controlling other aspects of the process vs constantly watching a thermometer and adjusting temp or adding lead to try and keep it stable. Bullet weights are much more consistent both within the same casting session and across multiple sessions.

Based on reading so far it seems I would likely be more satisfied with a Uragan 2, but I hope to get more feedback from long time owners of both.....

All I can say is my old .30 Uragan 1 is for sale and this was moa at 100 yards with 50.15 jsb knock out slugs on FACTORY TUNE and it is the short barrel. It was an asbolute pleasure to shoot.

This is a good deal for a real shooter!!!! pull it out and shoot !
