Compressor

Ive burned up many of the listed brands. I would just tear people away from yong hengs unless they're running legitimate dive compressor oil that costs as much as the compressor. I burned up a cs3 with 92 ci buddy bottles and a 77cf scba a little too regularly for the poor little guy. Burned the bearings out of the motor/gearbox and got a bad bearing knock and then broke the ring set for stage 1.

The dirty secret is these are all made in a couple of the same factories to varying levels of quality. Just like milwaukee rigid and ryobi cordless tools are.

I've learned after burning up 4 compressors of 3 types the only lesson I've learned is maintenance, session filling for heat control, regularly inspect them and you can pull a decent lifespan.

Is the Tuxing compressor reliable. Is it safe.
Thanks.
John
IIRC someone else asked, which Tuxing compressor are you referencing?

What is the purpose? i.e. filling SCBA tanks, direct filling a gun or guns?

Will you want to transport the compressor?

How about using it where there may not be 120 VAC/240VAC?

I have had (6) Yong Hengs or clones, so put me on the lower end of recommending those for filling tanks. As for transporting = not ideal. I converted one to closed loop cooling but the weight was similar to a New Warrior or GX CS4.

Bigger can be positive for filling tanks, but I ditched hauling a tank to the range and now use a GX CS3 or Tuxing/GX CS1 clone. 12 VDC or 120VAC/240VAC. Easy to take to the range to direct fill my guns. It runs for several hours each week, and I have the backup Tuxing/GX CS1 clone that is a bit slower but even more portable.

Whatever you choose, I strongly recommend getting one with adjustable automatic shut-off. That saves having to directly monitor during filling and adds a safety margin, regardless of whether you rely on the automatic.

I had a New Warrior, a GX CS4-sized compressor that was too heavy for convenient transport, although faster to fill guns and suitable for tanks.

These the ones for 100-200$? How often are you using it and what sort of duty cycle.
I use mine on an average of once or twice a week to top off my SCBA tanks. I rarely run it more than 15 minutes because I rarely let my tanks get below 3,000psi. Hottest the compressor ever gets is 55C. I have yet to see a Yong Heng for $100-200. They're usually closer to $300.
