compressor cooling just a thought ?

Seems to me HEAT is the destroyer !!put the compressor in a box with a small 2,500 BTU air conditioner , but you need to change the thermostat inside the unit to one that will go lower ( as in 38 degrees .) Most air units the thermostat only go's down to 50 degrees . the box could house ALL the components , air filters and such , fill hose on the outside . ALL this comes from Home brewing .Built a 5 x 10 walkin insulated cooler room with a 5000BTU AC , worked great .

The room/box would need to be closed to get the inside temperature down. At max, you would be extracting 2500btu/hr.

How many btu/hr do you think your HPA compressor is putting out?

It might help a very small compressor.
insulated box 4 feet tall 5 feet wide and 3 feet thick , all components of compressor system inside . @ 38 degrees . I would suspect the AC would run about 30 minutes to get the box and contents down to temp . just an idea of scrounged parts, , maybe $200 .? cold air holds less humidity also.
I wonder ? have anyone up north (long cold winters) run their YH outside temps ? in the shed or unheated garage ?

One of the reasons I like the GX models is they have re-designed the low pressure and high pressure pistons away from each other, resulting in less concentrated heat and wear. On top of that, there are actual bearings on the piston assembly! Less wear and less heat around the “seals”(wearing parts).
Not knocking Yong Heng or the “waterless” inexpensive compressors, but they all have no bearings and the high pressure and low pressure pistons are in close proximity which is why Yong Heng ( and clones of it) create so much heat and require water cooling! And, why most of the older waterless, inexpensive types need so much maintenance of rings.
Oh, and the 2 fans they use on GX models really move a lot of air by comparison to other waterless compressors.
JMHO

I live in South Dakota and have a yong heng. I fill a lot during the cold months so I dont have to worry about ice jugs in the cooling water. I do notice less water when purging the lines.

Can you cool a cheap compressor and get better performance and higher durability? Absolutely. Is it economical? No. You now have a better cooled cheap compressor that has now cost you at least as much as a good compressor would have cost you in the first place. Along with that, the good compressor has much more resale value protecting your investment
