Comparison of entry level pcp

There's no question the Marauder has stood the test of time and support is the best in the industry.

I had an early .22 and barrel quality was a crap shoot, mine sucked and i got rid of it.

The ones made now are much more consistent in accuracy and you can pay a little extra and get one with the Walther Walter barrel.

I got to say though ,the Avenger is phenomenal in accuracy.

If i was a southpaw i think i could use any of them no problem ,since the stocks are ambidextrous.

If you want to go with a 177 the Gauntlet is capable of 1/4" at 50 yards if you get an exceptional one. Otherwise they are 3/8"-1/2".

None of my Marauders even my Lothar Walther Field and Target can do 1/4" at 50 yards more like 5/16"-3/8" and the Crosman barrel ones 3/8"-5/8" even with added on HUMA and Lane and Altaros regulators I have many.

My ATI Nova Liberty (PRE AVENGER) was mostly 5/8"-3/4"-7/8" but haven't tried Crosman ammo yet they were with JSB and H&N. I have 2 in 177 and only shot one so far. I couldn't break half inch in this first one so far but incomplete test so far maybe Crosmans may break half inch IDK?

I've owned several Marauders in .177 and .22 and they were all good shooters. The .177 is super quiet. No real issues with them except they are heavy and sort of bulk .. I'm speaking of gen 1's only. I shot and worked on a few Guantlets in .177 and .22 but just never warmed up to them. They are fairly quiet and pretty accurate. Just too dang big for my liking.

I just bought a .22 Avenger and it blows every other cheap gun out of the water. It is by far one of the most accurate guns I have ever owned. And I have owned a bunch including Taipans, Rapids, Crickets etc. Yea its not as refined as them but it shoots right with them. Great gun gor $300.

Probably any warranty over 30 days on a entry level PCP is about as useful as a milking stool under a bull. How many people do you know had one for over a month and did not open it up (voiding the warranty) and tinker with it? Just saying.

Well, depends on the shooter. But someone can have that as an option - and a 5 year warranty is a heck of a nice countervailing selling point beyond the proven reliability and massive fan base. The new SAM being built on the same platform will probably be solid, especially in comparison to other similar price points coming out of the socialist People’s Republic of China.

I think I will buy the new SAM, especially if I get a Prod SAM option

Marauder models -

Used to be only one model in 3 calibers. Now, there are several. The base model is unregulated and uses a Crosman barrel. Nothing wrong with those barrels today, early models had problems, like 10 years ago.

The base model is unregulated, but the hammer spring, preload and transfer port are all adjustable so you can tune it up or down, whatever you want. Mine is about 22 fpe, throwing a 18 grain JSB .22 at about 840fps. It likes 15 grain JSB's as well at about 880 or 890 fps. Very consistent these days as I added a regulator.

Field and Target is a regulated version, non-adjustable and specific to lower powered Field Target shooting. High shot count, but lower power.

Regulated version is new. Don't know much about it. Probably related to the F&T. Comes in both Lothar Walther barrel and Crosman Barrel. Your choice. Lothar Walther is renowned for quality and accuracy.

Semi-automatic version is brand new and doesn't have much of a track record. It's intriguing, but expensive for my tastes for a Marauder.

The rest are variations on a theme. Different stocks, different calibers, lothar walther barrels vs Crosman barrels, etc.

The $640 price tag isn't really considered entry level anymore, that's more in the Avenger / Gauntlet range of $300. Just by being a good solid choice its evolved into a mid-level gun.

Marauder is an excellent gun, but I don't think it's entry level any more. One step up. Good trigger, well tested design, and the rest. I do plan on buying an Avenger when they've proven out, but for now, the Marauder is a good gun

If it's a 22 you seek here is my Benjamin Marauder Field and Target 22 caliber featured on video that I bought from Rick Rehm Shooter 1721. It has a CROSMAN BARREL and shoots even more accurate than his video shows with 14.3gr Crosman pointeds in the 175 count tins instead.

Get well soon buddy! This ones 4U!!!

Today was an unsually windless day here. The Avenger averaged .319 with five, five shot groups using 18.13g JSBs.

The 15.89 JSBs averaged .390,Air Arms 16g were at .497.

One of the heavy JSB groups was .225,yesterday i had one at .180 .I haven't had a group go over a half inch with the JSBs but that is under perfect conditions.

At what distance?
