Comparing the ASP Sig and R1 177 at 100 yards

There really is no comparison. I tried for a few hours, to get my incredibly accurate R1 to group at 100 yards. It simply bounces around too much. I couldn’t get a group smaller than about 5 inches. I knew the gun could shoot better. So I decided to try offhand. I believe all these spring Piston air guns were designed to shoot offhand for hunting. The sporting models anyway.

Below are the results with the ASP. It was significantly easier to shoot accurately.

I shot two offhand groups with the R1 . This was the first one. It was five shots. The other one was about twice the size, still not bad.

Neither one of these rifles had any barrel droop.

I’m guessing it’s going to drop about a foot between 50 and 100 yards. These are pretty high velocity rifles at 18 foot pounds or thereabouts. I didn’t pay much attention when I set it up. I just get it on target and start shooting.

The cool thing is, because I’m shooting off hand , I can see the pellets fly through the air and hit the group.

you do need a little bit of luck to shoot that group. But it does prove the rifle is capable. At least once.
