Compact Scope for FX Wildcat

My FX WC3 arrived a couple of days ago from UT. I have an Element scope, but really want something lighter, smaller, and not as expensive to use on small game within 30-40 yds. I'd like to stay in the 40-44mm range, side focus, and a reticle useable by old eyeballs on small critters (rats, squirrels, etc.). Price range less than $200. I'd appreciate suggestions from actual users, rather than salesmen. Thank you.

Iwas in the same place a while back. In that price range I like the UTG 4-16 with UMOA reticle, and I'd surely check out the Discovery scopes from Charlie at Airgun Optics Plus.

I put a Vector optics Veyron 6-24X44 on my Mavrick as i did not want to have a larger scope on it.

I have since tried my Larger Hawke scope on it and that also worked just fine, but i still prefer the smaller scope.

Price was also okay on this scope.

The cross hairs on the FFP scope are very small if you dont have any zoom on, but as i like to zoom and do not use it for hunting i am fine with that.

I have both the Vector Veyron 3-12x44 and the Veyron 6-24x44. They are both light and short with fine reticles. My aging eyes prefer the center dot of the 6-24, it mostly stays at 24 on my Taipan. If I were shooting at the 6-9x level I would probably prefer the 3-12x.

I also have the veyron 3x12 on my Wildcat and on my Maverick. In fact I have put one on the Prod too.

Great little scope. I mostly did this to reduce the overall weight. I can't seem to understand why someone would put a heavy Element on a light Wildcat.

At 35 yards plus I would use my Vector 3-12x44 FFP. I can only see the reticle well above 6x and I'm always at 6x or higher at those distances.

if you think you'll need to see the reticle below 6x then both Discovery and Vector distribute SFP versions of the same scope. But I haven't used one.

I think Discovery also makes an illuminated version of the FFP.

FYI

Medium rings should put the 44 mm objective less than 1/8" above the ring base mounting rail & of course high rings would be more than 1/8" gap.

Immersive optics has prismatic scopes. Or the Dedal Stalker. These are fixed magification.
Low power variable optics bit larger. Or something like UTG bug buster?
