Coltri Icon question

Just got the bugger today and im dumbfounded about a few things!

First the "safety" wire on the fill hose, why???

Next the extension on the DIN300 fill fitting, why???

I have never seen it before and none of my 7 300bar bottles accomodate it!

After turning it down it was as i feared, the flat part is so wide that it wont hardly fit in a DIN200 bottle, again why?

Are they so scared of you lot that every little bit has to be 100% lawyer proof?

Works as advertised and topped of a 12 liter bottle from 100bar to 220bar ~ 1440 liters in 23min.

Not nearly as noisy as i feared, a standard 1 cylinder 2hp shop compressor is very noisy and has a harsh sound, this is more like a steady "loud" hum. Have'nt done numbers yet but i would say at least 6-8 times faster than my trusty Altaros Booster.

I think it might be a "anti whip around" safety feature in case of a leak in the hose or the end coming loose.

A loose fire hose with the heavy nozzle at the end can whip around and easy cave in a human skull if it hit you, i am sure a high pressure smaller hose are also painful if it get loose and hit you.

Bigger scale.

PS. Once during a fire drill on the lower car deck on the ferry i worked on a fire hose got loose and performed the METHed up snake dance, in that one instance i dove in head first and secured it, but really the right thing is to run and stop the pump or close the valve in the other end.

But 1½" from the outlet on a 26" "whip" ?

Makes no sense?

Ahhhh now the penny dropped!

If it rips of the compressor and then the bottle will whip the snippet around violently with a full belly of air!

Dang Coltri upped their safety game :)

Thats a DIN 300 fitting, designed to prevent overfilling of 232 BAR tanks. An explanation of the different fittings, with helpful photos, can be found here-

I know that but the small tube in the middle i have never seen before and as i said it wont fit any of my 7 DIN300 bottles
