i just had a few tins of .30 cal JSB pellets come in. All my JSB's have been a nice silver color. This current batch is really dark, I mean dark. Anybody have any idea what this could be about? Not worried, just curious.
Though these are two different types of .30 cal pellets, I have noticed variations in color between different batches of JSB pellets of the same size and weight. I don't have a clue why this sometimes happens but it just does. However, I can't recall ever seeing any discernible color variations with H&N pellets.
All my tins of .30 cal pellets from both FX and JSB looked identical to each other. Same shape and color, light grey. I expected the FX pellets to be darker from the pictures I've seen of them but they weren't any lighter or darker than the JSBs.
Check the stickers on the back of your tins, and look at the last two numbers. I am betting that the dark ones are from '13, and the lighter ones are from '14 or '15. JSB changed lead sources for the .30 pellets in 2014. But, my Bobcat and Boss .30 enjoy both varieties equally.
