Collectable air rifle ... Advice needed please.

Hello everyone, I've just this minute joined this site as I've come across my really old lol... err...... maybe not that old Emm..

oh yes..... Air Rifle

Feinwerkbau Mk 2.....

Stored for 30+ years in my parents loft. So a few silly questions i have for you all.

IF, i were looking to sell this......

1. is it worth getting serviced first. ?

2. I may still have the box, but does this really make a difference to value. ?

3. The rifle is is just about pristine, the ONLY makes are from the carry strap buckle under the barrel break. Rough estimate of value please.

4. Scope attached is A.S.I 4X32 deluxe also extremely good condition and crystal clear, value also needed.

I look forward to a lovely chat with everyone.

:)

If you o0noly want to seel I personally would not service it. "I" also would not fire it unless serviced. Naturally any original item ( box ) will add slight value if you can find a collector.

MANY models of "fwb mk2" , just start searching on the classifieds ( all of them perhaps).

1st up would be to correctly id the rifle.

As prices have fallen through the bottom on classics you might consider just keeping it. Airgunwerks would be a good choice for servicing id desired.

hi john,

It's a sports 127, approx 1980

I certainly don't want to keep it, it's not what I'm into these days, I have different pursuits now lol. That said , I would still appreciate a rough value before I start making ad's for the sale.

Thanks.

Vintage lol.

The 127 is .22 caliber and quite a bit more rare. The 'sport' model had the plain stock with no checkering or butt pad, so that's a bit of a downer. A FWB 124 in decent condition (not the rarer 127) usually goes for $300-500 depending on stock style and condition. There's a blue book of airgun values, it might be worth a few bucks to get a valuation on your 127. Of course, ultimately it's worth whatever someone will pay for it.

Best of luck,

John

Hi John, you made my day i think, i have the deluxe version of the Rifle, so it does have both the checkering and the butt pad. :).... Is there a forum for pics. Just so people can see this.

How do I find this blue book please john.

Vintage,.

Hi john, thanks so much for al your help in this, You've done more than enough with regards to help me put a value on this.

I'm taking it to a gunsmith today and have her serviced. After that I'll be aiming(pun intended) to sell it. In the mean time, i'll be off back to my parents to see if I can find the original box and manual, along with all the other odds and sods I purchased.

Happy hunting lol...

PS, I hope you managed to see the pics I posted for everyone. It's in General chat ok.

Hi Johnl57, just FYI , i found the single valuation link you mentioned, and you were spot on the money lol.

https://www.bluebookofgunvalues.com/#/SearchCategory/Airgun/83/907/FEINWERKBAU_WESTINGER_ALTENBURGER_GmbH_RIFLES_MODEL_127

Search for a model, then you're offered a single model payment :)

I've found a FWB sport 127 up for sale in a very tatty state for £225 , I've not looked up my valuation just yet but will get to it this morning. Considering mine is as manufactured and in excellent condition i'll be putting price up quite a bit.

Thanks again for all your help.

The "Blue Book" was never accurate. The 1st edition being derived from the classified ads HIGHEST LISTED price, not what they sell for. Now years later they've not upgraded ( to lower more realistic prices) with the more modern " latest greatest" being all that sells well.

Maybe take a peek at the only fwb124 listing on this forum with original scope as a starting point. Then start checking all the classifieds for a realistic price range.

How ever it IS worth whatever someone will pay. Right time & place ( right buyer ) will make all the difference in sales price.

John

edit: I've no idea what "bluebook" is on a Lefty Walnut TX200 - original no MK - but in excellent condition and with a Nationals title under it's trigger, sale price was $400.00
