Cold weather shooting

That's probably a tough one to answer accurately for all airguns I general. I don't think there would be mechanical issues (even at -50F). The variables that would worry me at extremely low temps would be any moisture that the gun had, which may have frozen. If there were parts that were seized up as a result, damage could be incurred (let alone various safety issues).

Too cold for the gun or for ME?

Like Bob-O,I'm from Michigan...so hunting is often done in pretty low temps. Anything under 20 deg. takes a bit of extra motivation for me,I've asked the guns but they refuse to comment.

With that said,I dont particularly enjoy shooting when it blazing hot, either! If its so hot that theres a chance I get dehydrated to the point where my wife could find me layin out in the yard lookin like a dried-up sidewalk worm...fahgettabout it!

Am I getting too picky in my advancing age? Eh,probably. I blame it on the use of Sensitivity Toothpaste...I think it's leeching into my brain.

Mike.

I shoot all winter long in my backyard. I do try to give my guns time to cool outside before shooting them though. I literally have seen my scope image change as they cool from my 68f inside temperature to outdoor winter temperatures. I'm in Central New York so "winter" temps can be anywhere from -10f to 55f. :-0

Also be mindful if you shoot pcp that your pressure will drop as the gun cools off so you will likely get fewer shots.

One thing that I have found is that camo form wrap helps ease the pain from ice cold metal!

I too am in Michigan. I have an hour lunch and almost an hour of daylight after work to shoot. And I do shoot most days. It was 18* when I left the shooting bench tonight. I leave my tanks in the garage to keep them cool. The only thing I make sure of is that the rifle lays on the dining room table until it is defrosted and oiled before putting it away. I see no trouble with cold weather shooting. Maybe cold fingers!
