I was spoiled with the first Royale I had with the side cocking lever. After moving to a Streamline and then a Wildcat I experienced the same great side cocking that I had come to expect. I recently picked up a Royale 400 again for myself and the longer throw and short finger handle sort of threw me off compared to the SL and WC. Looking at the parts From the Royale and the SL and comparing them I figured that they would be a direct swap.
I made a call to FXUSA and asked if the Impact/SL lever would work for the Royale 400 and I was told that it would not and that they had different throws on them. Well, I’m no rocket scientist but I can measure and compare parts so I threw that answer out the door and I ordered a new lever and handle so I could see for myself. Parts came in and I went to swapping the old out with the new. It works perfectly!!! I think it looks better AND I I love that the lever is lower and closer to my trigger hand. It was well worth my time and effort.
