Cocking issue R5M

Had an odd issue start popping up for me lately. After taking a little break from shooting I noticed that my .25 R5M is having issues with cocking. Specifically, when I cock the handle back it cycles just fine, but the action doesn't remain to the rear. Instead, it tries to spring back forward without being pushed. I take that to mean it didn't cock. Does this mean I have an issue with sear engagement? Anyone else exp this?

Pulling the cocking handle back and trying to get it engaged multiple times, I ended up putting 3-4 pellets into the barrel once. Not ideal.

Was it working properly last time you shot it? If so have you tinkered with anything since then?

No tinkering. I had just taken a break because work and holidays made it hard to find time. Prior I hadn't seen any issues. Taking the action out of the stock and it worked fine. Maybe I had tightened the stock too much? Dunno.

I ended up watching it once when it slipped (with the stock off) but couldn't discern why. After I put the stock back on it seemed to work just fine. Kinda weird hiccup.
