New to airgunning and made the mistake.of using cleaning pellets on a Crosman Diamondback with barrel shroud, one got stuck and disappeared in the baffles, any ideas how to clear it?
I wasn’t familiar with that rifle so I just googled it and took a look at a picture of it. I’m wondering how the moderator on the end is attached. If you can get it off, then you would be able to pull the cleaning pellet out.Or can you shine a flashlight down the end of the barrel and see any bit of the cleaning pellet? If so you could take a pair of tweezers and maybe get it out.
Sounds like they are roll pins you are describing.Sometimes they can be pretty tight because they are made to expand. In the picture I could see two little holes and figured they were probably for pins.If it was mine I would put that moderator against something solid and give them pins A good whack .If you can see a little split in the pin then it is definitely a roll pin.
Yeah it makes sense they would use roll pins in something like that. They are made a little oversized. When they’re pressed in they squeeze down a little to hold them tight. But they’ll come out. Good luck with it because you don’t want to leave that in there. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.
I would just crack the barrel open (not cocked just open) and stick the end of the barrel into a vacuum cleaner hose and seal with couple layers of saran wrap press your finger over the breech where you load the pellet for added suction and SLOWLY gradually remove finger then block it again to boost the horsepower like an Anteater. Keep doing this till it gets sucked out.
I would clean inside the vacuum cleaner first so you know when that cleaning pellet is already sucked out by looking inside the vac cleaner.
If that doesn't work then substitute your finger with a shop compressor hose nozzle while still running the vacuum cleaner. You want to generate enough air force. Like a category 5.
I will try the vacuum cleaner idea then if that doesn't work take to the pins, thanks for advice gentlemen I appreciate the help and always like to learn new stuff!
Final update, vacuum cleaner would not create enough power, removed the roll pins and Barrel shroud comes off easily to expose the baffles and clear them, problem solved, thanks everyone!
Glad you got them out. You might want to buy a pull through cleaning kit.I just used a length of fishing line to pull through a patch until I bought a kit.
