Cleaning up/fixing EDgun gauge

I've been battling a leak on my new Lelya. Eventually, I tracked it down to the gauge. EDgun West has been unresponsive on the matter, and I'm not sure how to fix these things (if you even can), so I ordered a new gauge from EDgun Shop. I received it today, and it's looking rough. The "tip" of the gauge is particularly bad. I'm not sure what it's covered in, but it doesn't come off easily. And if it looks like this on the outside, what does the inside look like? Such shoddy workmanship doesn't inspire confidence.

Ideas?

Agree with all of the above. You don't know what damage , if any is inside of the gauge.

And yes, Brian can be a bit of a pain when he want to be. I also have a Lelya. And yes again, have also had odd dealings with Brian. Sometimes he can be friendly, sometimes...not. Kinda like him having "monthly" situations that most of us are aware of !

And yes, again, if he continues to not respond, suck it up and buy one from Wika or Huma. You'll get good parts from either.
Note, you'll only get a 315 bar from Huma or Wika, but that's plenty, won't be a problem.
It's a 1/8 BSPP thread.

I understand that it looks shoddy. Unacceptable to send out something that looks like that and sold as new.

Function wise however, it’s probably fine. Brass tarnishes easily. It can be polished with brasso and look fine. But you shouldn’t have to.

I prefer using edgunshop. Dealings with them have been more pleasant. West makes you feel like you’re bothering him and his time is more valuable than your business. Jmo
