I tried to use a PatchWorm on my PCP's and non-break barrel springers, but could not find a straw small enough to get it started. Did you find one? The PatchWorm works great on my break barrel springers, though.
Something I have used for years... a length of weed-eater line. Heat one end and make a small mushroom. The other end is cut at a angle. Easy to put a small patch on the line and pull through.
Years ago I got tired of scrounging around trying to find what I needed to clean my guns when I'd go to the range. I still would always forget something I needed so I put this little kit together. It goes to the shooting range with me and I use it at home. Each tool has its own cut out space in the foam inside the box to keep stuff from bouncing around.

When I sent a picture of mine to a friend he told me about using the method you describe so I made some with different sized weed eater line. Got to admit your method makes more sense and is easier to get in the barrel.
