Do you need to clean airguns? BB guns or multi hand pump models is a definite no and many won't even let you because of the design. On the other end are the break barrel and PCP's. Do the latter two require periodic cleaning or can I just keep shooting them?

cleaning the barrel is good once you start lose accuracy you aslo need to lube orings to maintain there seal

I clean the bore when accuracy starts to fade and wipe the entire exterior of the rifle with a soft cloth w/ light oil. I usually remove the stock so I can wipe as much of the gun as possible otherwise I don't have the experience or tooling to do a 100% disassembly so this is the best I can do for my pcp.

In light of cleaning it every once in a while, what do you suggest I use to clean airguns due to the greater sensitivity of the barrels. Break barrels, other than the softer metal, seem easy but:
-what kits for what guns (break barrel, PCP) and
-what lubricants for the O rings that won't melt them?

Ballistol for all cleaning and lubricating. That is what I use, personal preference. One wet patch and two dry behind it. Dab on rings and a general wipe down. Ballistol hasn't degraded any of my O rings.

The rifle bores don't get copper fouling like a traditional powder burner so I only pull a patch with very light silicone oil and run dry patches until clean. I don't clean the bore until I see a drop in accuracy and so far I'm at 1200ish rounds between the last cleaning ,but accuracy is still excellent.
Exterior of the rifle I'm using Barricade ,by Birchwood & Casey, sprayed very lightly on a soft cloth.
ORings I use Crosman's Silicone Chamber Oil.

I use a boresnake with the brass brush removed . I have one with a light amount of oil up front . And another that is clean and I run it thru a couple times . You can wash them in your washing machine and they get like an old flannel shirt , softer after washing. Make SURE you remove the brass brush ( it can damage orings).

yea all of the above is good although I don't like bore snakes lol but make sure you use 100% silicone oil or grease
I use balistol for all my outer cleaning and I good solvent fr my barrel if you chose o use a brush for some reason you just need to make sure of a few things
1 using the right caliber brush: hasd a frined using a .177 in a 22 and he couldn't figure out why it wasn't working lol
2 being carful of orings like in the marauder there's a oring at the breach end in the barrel it could get damaged
3 over cleaning is an over looked idea after you clean it you'll need to run a few shots threw to re lead the barrel
I was given a set of tornado brushes

I usually pull a few patches though my barrels with the JL Crown Saver. A wet patch or two followed by 4 or 5 dry ones.
I've used WD-40, Aero Kroil, and Ballistol on the wet patches and I couldn't tell ya which one works best?

How many shots do you shoot between cleaning of the FAC rifle? I know that the majority of you do the cleaning once the accuracy starts to fall apart. But what is the threshold in the number of shot pellets?

If you're using Pellgun oil in a pcp you're flirting with disaster. It's non detergent 30W OIL, A petroleum product and can cause catastrophic failure if introduced to the high pressure side of things. If you're looking to keep your breech seal oring that the bolt probe slides into well lubed use plain ol silicone oil from time to time.
