I don’t always leave feedback- especially small sales or trades, or if sale/trade partner has already high rep / feedback. Unless they ask for it, then I’ll give it. If the sale or trade is big, feedback is left every time. Sometimes I forget for a few days depending how busy I am at the current time. No insult intended, just my mind being occupied.

Probably like most folks, I'm more inclined/motivated to give feedback (anywhere) for especially good or bad experiences, and seldom do so for interactions falling within parameters we should always expect. Unfortunately as time passes and the Human species devolves in real time before our own eyes, now at an ever-accelerating rate, I'm providing feedback more and more often (for buying, selling, and other kinds of Human interactions). Most of that feedback is justifiably negative, despite the fact I MUCH prefer posting positive feedback.

Covid has provided perhaps the best, most convenient, and overused EXCUSE for Incompetents' incompetency, further "normalizing" ineptitude; professional or otherwise. Example- while I've always instructed sellers to "please over-package to avoid shipping damage", only to have several refuse to listen, I now insist sellers "please over-package to avoid any possibility that professional package handlers bent on destroying the contents succeed in doing so". Even so, multiple examples make it obvious that some folks simply won't take advice, no matter how well-intentioned or justified.

i think it is more a matter of perception of what over packaging is , to some one layer of small bubble wrap is securely protected with a lose fitting thin cardboard box .

A barrel I received a while back, I mentioned over packing, yet this is what shows up.

And some people just have no idea how easy the packing they just provided will fail. Still some people are just lazy thinking they had enough packing on hand to box and send.

As for feedback, I tend to forget, too excited about the package I just got and just can't wait to try it it or put it on. 🙄

Which reminds me, I need to give some.

Edit. I guess I'm not as flaky as I thought I was. I already did leave some feedback

Just ask them to leave you feedback. I don't think people are necessarily being rude I think most of the time they just don't think about it. I always say "Just left you some feedback" and 9/10 they do it on their own.
^^^^THIS^^^^
I have forgotten a few times. But I usually just send a note and say feedback left and would appreciate if you would do the same.

The seller of my Falcon FN12 custom pistol is one that refused to listen and cut me off mid-packaging advice; probably related to the fact he's a lawyer. Because he depended on a foam-lined hard case inside a cardboard box he thought it a good idea to also wrap the heavy pistol inside a soft cloth. When a package-handling GOON dropped the box off a truck end first, the one-of-a-kind custom pistol blew right through all the packaging, thanks to the soft cloth wrapping rendering the (otherwise) friction fit between gun and compressed foam lining totally ineffective.

The result damaged the repeating-action mechanism to such degree that I was only able to resurrect the damaged gun enough to use as a single shot by coverting an eight-shot magazine into a single-shot tray. Once that resurrection was successful I corrected previously inflicted ham-fisted butchery of the custom stock by installing a Bocote grip-cap and lovely, low-luster bulletproof finish.

A buddy with a 3D printer has "volunteered"/been sucked into attempting to fabricate a better SS tray.

Regardless, the resurrected one-of-a-kind custom classic averages 1" or less five-shot groups at 50 yards with 18.1 JSBs at 20 foot pounds. A real gem!

What a beautiful stock on that gun!

I'll admit that I am one to generally not provide feedback unless prompted. I have no other excuse than I have a wife, two teen kids who go to school, swim, football, basketball, Scouts and a myraid of other activities on top of a job that is mentally stressful and draining (those working in IT will understand what I mean when I say that I've been on call 24/7 for the past 23+ years).

All it takes is a gentle reminder in a polite DM and I'm happy to do so.

Consider though, that if you leave feedback for someone, there is no 'notification' to that person you have done so. Communication is the key both pre and post sale.

Completely agree with this statement, when you have to remind them twice though , or more, are you nagging or are they being inconsiderate lol

As a buyer. I enjoy leaving good feedback for a seller that responds to questions, ships promptly, packs carefully, and of course, sells an item that matches the description.
And do so quite often.

Negative feedback is a bit more difficult to deposit as one never knows whether the person just goofed, is inept. or truly dishonest

I also do not consider positive feedback as a reward.
To me it is simply a descriptive note in the person's file that lets other buyers know that we had a good transaction.

common curiosity if your left feed back , Is it really hard to do the same??? Am I Wrong???
should be allowed to delete feedback since some are one way
It isn’t so much about right or wrong, it’s really a matter of perspective. Feedback is a gift.

How does that change things? Well, just because you left feedback, you should not expect it automatically in return.

Look, companies send free product and/or discounts just to get ratings. That means buyer feedback is not automatic.

Most people don’t give feedback because the transaction went as expected.

So…

If you want more people to VOLUNTARILY give you a rating, then maybe do just a little bit more than is expected.

If you are selling, the first chance to do that starts with the quality of the post.

SELLER POSTING
Be specific and describe the item in detail. If there are mods, describe what they are, and when they were done; also, do you have the original parts? What condition are they in?

Use “if” statements to show you are thinking about the buyer.

Here are two examples:
1. If shipping is required, then send me your zip code. But don’t leave it there. Tell them what you will do about it. Send me your zip code… “and I will get you a quote. I will ship at cost plus $5 for extra packaging and handling.”

2. “If you want more photos or have questions about X, send me a note. I will send you pictures. We can also arrange for a virtual inspection if you want.”

COMMUNICATION
Make an effort to look at the purchase from the buyer perspective.

When you reply to a message and answer a question, ask “is that Ok?” Or “that is all I know about X. If you have a more specific question, I’d be glad to check it out and get back with you.”

PAYMENT AND DELIVERY
Be clear and simple. Too many people make this harder than it has to be.

Put options in your POST, so the Buyer knows up front, and you can agree as part of the deal.

As soon as the Buyer decides, remember YOU are the only thing getting in their way of having what they want.

I am brand new to this forum. These are things that worked for me to get 100% 5-star ratings on about 3 out of 4 items sold.

Hope that helps a bit. Let me know if you have questions.

Wait!
What?
You all demand feedback? Why is this yours to demand? Am I being compensated for my time? Was that part of the sales agreement?
I got about 85,000 feedbacks to leave for the stuff I have purchased at the grocery store, craft fairs, garage sales, Craigslist then!
Nah, I don't think you all are "deserving" of something that was never yours to begin with. If someone wants to post feedback for me, I'm glad to see it but I'm secure enough to know I sent good stuff and that if there are any issues, I'm right here to take care of them.

Classified feedback is important. It tells potential buyers and sellers that you can be trusted. It isn't really all that important if you already have good feedback on your account but for new users who are just getting into the classifieds it definitely is. I’ve passed on more than a few offers because of lack of feedback. Its quick and easy and honestly pretty selfish of you to not take literally 30 seconds out of your day to leave some.

NO! It's arrogant to assume that others follow YOUR rules especially when they have NOT been agreed upon beforehand.

Straight up: If you want feedback, post it in the offer or the WTS post. Failure to do so is not by problem.

Having to be asked to do a nice thing rather than do it on your own really says a lot about you as a person. None of it is particularly flattering. You do you. I will say this though. You better hope I never have anything you want in the classifieds. I'll trash it before letting you have it after this exchange.
