Classifieds and pricing

100% true statements...
I was in the auto industry for over 35 years, Parts and Service Director, the price of a damn F150 reaching the 100,000.00 mark is ludicrous, that's 25K more than my 1st house cost, then finance the turd for 10 years at 4.9% or higher interest?? You got to be out yo damn mind!!!

Credit card companies getting away with murder as well, 29.99% interest, you will NEVER pay that off.. Loan Sharks i tell ya...

Thank god everything i own is paid for, hard work, smart investing, does pay off, and if i can Not pay cash for it or buy it interest free i do Not need it....!!
Yeah for sure a 100,000 dollar truck is crazy! There is a saying in Russia "People see how I drive, not how I live." I feel like it's starting to apply here in 49 States...

I could see 100k for a truck IF it were a business requirement. I think most Americans have lost touch with the concept of priorities.

Im married to a Romanian. If a Romanian was given 50k, they'd start a business, buy a production machine, a piece of land, a tractor or a tractor and some land, etc. If you give 50k to an American, they'd buy a camper, a bass boat or a new truck......And then wonder why they can't ever get ahead.

I think I paid interest ONCE in my life on a CC. If you pay the statement in full on the due date it's 0%. You can even make a profit using it if you have a cash back card. Absolutely can eat you like a shark though if you let it get out of hand.

@ctshooter Me. I have other guns that I really enjoy. I bought one as a project gun and it’s still new in the box only opened to inspect or take pics to sell. I don’t think I’d care if I never sold it. Bought it over a year ago (accessories too). The other gun I never slugged the barrel, so I’m not sure which ammo to buy, so it sits until I decide I want to do that. I pretty much have what I need in the gun’s I active shoot. I really didn’t need those two, but they’re there when I want to mess with them. If I decided to sell them and told you this, would it sound suspicious?
Let me try to explain. Maybe the way I said it came across wrong. If it's a more prominent member with a good reputation and a good explanation - then no I am not calling the user themselves suspect. But for a more unknown member with little feedback I would be more hard pressed to believe the story. Where I was coming from is that gun is more suspect to me. Say you've owned the gun for a year, never shot it, no chance to return it to a dealer, etc.... How do I know the gun works and works well? I feel the risk is higher in that the seller doesn't even know if the gun is good or has issues.

On the flip side - how can you not want to shoot a new airgun? Second I get one I'm putting a few shots through it - it's like a new toy to me and I can't wait to unwrap it.

@ctshooter Makes sense. To answer your question, if I already have a gun, like it enough to buy another, then I have a good idea of the gun’s potential. If it doesn’t work out of the box I also likely know how to troubleshoot small issues having spent time enough to familiarize myself with the platform.

My project gun will probably be altered eventually. But in the strange event that it has issues out of the box, that’s likely to be a manufacturing problem. If I don’t want to deal with it or if it’s beyond my scope, there’s still a manufacturers warranty in play. If I don’t alter it I can let a friend use one to hunt with me. A couple have been waiting to come. As for the other gun. I bought it used, BUT the manufacturer allowed me to register for a warranty as if I bought it new knowing that I am not the first owner. I’m not worried about that one either. Nothing for me to worry about. I don’t have a lot of unresolved issues with companies that I read about on the forums.

As for the classifieds I’ve tried selling a few things to people looking to buy. Most often it’s something that someone says they’re looking for that I have laying around and can part with. Most have been flakey and won’t respond which I find extremely odd. This is before prices are discussed. So the classifieds are screwy to me anyhow. As for dealing with reputable members, that’s key. I haven’t had unresolved issues with reputable members. Most have been courteous and accomodating. When people have high prices, I would try talking to them and presenting reasonable offers. I’ve been rejected for asking too many questions about a gun, so it’s really kinda unpredictable. You don’t know what you’re going to encounter. You never know why a person is really selling or what type of sales tactics they may employ. Best advice I can offer to members reading this is don’t go into a situation as a buyer with your heart set on getting exactly what you’re looking for in every encounter or inquiry. Be flexible and prepared to walk away from a “deal” if something doesn’t sit right with you. Others will come. I waited months to find a deal on an Evol. The one I bought wasn’t the first I tried to buy.

Am I imagining it or are used guns not moving very well on the classifieds? I have seen quite a few nice guns of all brands sitting for what I would have thought extended periods of time and often not moving at all.
Are gun sales seasonal in this hobby? Or are folks hanging onto their money a little tighter these days? Do people have an exaggerated sense of what their guns are worth?
Just looking for some thoughts and opinions. I have no idea. Maybe I am seeing something that is not there?
It’s been brutal trying to sell anything on here the last 6-8 months, maybe people are broke, not buying used, etc… seems like the only way you can sell anything on here is if you post a crackhead special price and lose hundreds of dollars

Airguns are a liability, used airguns are a bigger liability.

I'm proud that many buyers are not enabling serial purchasers of airguns, when people can't sell their last airgun, it slows down their purchases.

No I do not want to pay msrp, or even close to msrp for your aged, likely scratched up, out of warranty airgun...

No I don't want your specially 'tuned' airgun...get a real job and stop trying to upsell or resell or 'tuned up' airguns.

The hype train has been slowing way down for airguns and, as much as I enjoy them am glad to see it...maybe manufacturers will slow their roll too and start being more thorough in r&d opposed to releasing a new revision every 6 months.
