Classifieds and Airgun Shows

I asked a member a few years ago in "General", what he was bringing to the NC Airgun Show, and he said he thought it would be a violation to answer, because of trying to skirt the classified rules, or selling out of place. So, I didn't ask anyone anymore, and just looked at the show.

I always wondered, so would it be considered a violation to discuss items someone is bringing to sell at an airgun show?

Also, if that is frowned upon, would it be kosher to list an item on the Classifieds for "pickup at the airgun show"?

No big deal, just always been curious about that. I know that could be handled through PMs.

Good question , i usually do not know what i will bring to a Show until i am packing . I bought a table this year @ NC Hickory so i will bring something to put on it . I did buy a gun off the Classifieds and said i would pick up @ the show (so no shipping a rifle is why )

Yeah, I feel sure listing one for sale "pickup at Hickory Gun Show only" would be fine, pretty much the same as specifying Face to Face. I'm just not sure if it's ok to discuss that on other forum categories. At least one member was concerned with that, which made me think, and gave me pause.

I can see the wrong in discussing such in the open forum but what's to stop someone from having a one on one private conversation?

Nothing, that's why I said, "I know that could be handled through PMs".

On other forums, in other hobbies, it's fairly common to discuss "who's bringing what" to a swap meet, in a dedicated thread, and it draws more interest to the event. If that's not wanted here, that's no problem, I already don't. As stated before, just curious.

Hard to say. This site can often be pretty preemptive in dropping the hammer. Then other times let it slide for a long time.

In my opinion AGN does not benefit in any way from the Classifieds section so I can’t see why discussing swap meet items would matter.

I just don't get why having those type discussions can't be done a private pm between the 2 parties. Just avoid any controversy in the eye of the forum's public.
I mean, if I see something in the classifieds that interests me I start a private conversation with the seller... I don't hit him/her up in a public post. Ain't none nobodies bidness. Y'all can also make plans to meet at the show to finalize the deal face to face.
Maybe that's just me.
