Classic squirrel silhouette shot from 45yds

Sitting in my chair this morning before sunrise just waiting for shooting light. I can see a bunch of squirrel running around but they're on the ground and I can't see them well enough yet.
And then one runs up the tree on the edge of the farm field and runs out on a limb and just sits there.
Perfect silhouette.
Got him right in the head.
My first squirrel falling out of a tree. So much more satisfying than getting them on the ground!
Amos Burton awaits the brains and guts.

No brains for the dog. Some Squirrel brains have a prion ( a misfolded protein ) in them which causes symptoms of something like mad cow disease in people and other animals.

This is something that I learned 30 or 40 years ago. I just did a quick search to see what the current information on it was. Apparently there are some sources which disagree with that and others that still agree with it. I would recommend you play it safe with the dog.

Darn good shot by the way. I like those shots where they stick out from the tree and you can get a good look at their silhouette. Well done. Good looking dog too.

I like your dog. Is it part German shepherd?
All German Shepherd. Amos is 11mo old and already maximum breed size. He's going to be big.

Thanks for that info. I never would've thought twice about it. Hopefully the 2 he had won't hurt him.
