should I pick a Revere or HW100 carbine to replace a Marauder F&T in 177. Mostly shooting paper and starlings under 50 yards but would like something that just feels better in my hands. The marauder is very accurate but just never felt right when handling. I’m not looking for a huge shot count but in the area of 45-50 would be nice. Thinking safari version on Revere side.

I also noticed the back order at AOA my preferred place of purchase and I am choosing to exercise patience on this. Unless they tell me this is one of those FX perpetual back orders that a friend recently went through.

They told me 45-60 days. In fact I ordered a long barrel version online, and they cancelled it, because it was out of stock. Darrin emailed that the walnut thumbhole, and polymer thumbhole are in stock.
There is/was a 22 caliber polymer thumbhole on ebay for 950 shipped. I am sticking with 177 because I have 6 magazines, and less pellet inventory, plus the laminate should be heavier.
As a side I shot 6 magazines yesterday, and the manometer reads over 1/2 full. I can get 10 magazines on a fill, but I generally shoot 6, refill the mags, and top off the cylinder. Again that is for my adjustment of the regulator and hammer. I guess maybe I am doing 700+ fps with 8.5 grain Norma pellets. I get same hole accuracy at 10M, and a high shot count, so numbers don't matter to me. It also shoots 10.3 crossman well, and same in JSB.

My wife supports my airgun hobby (addiction?). Since she takes care of the paperwork knows my supplier well and on several occasions PCPs that I've been researching out of curiosity show up unexpectedly at the door... complete with scope, rings and a sleeve of pellets

I am willing to wait two months but I might have to do the coin flip now to chose. Or maybe two out of three. A high shot count on the 100 isn’t a goal but tuning it down seems to get good results. And when I think back to how many starlings and sparrows I killed as a kid with a Daisy 880 and BBs I laugh at myself for wanting more power and hollow point pellets to achieve the same results now.

That is what you call a keeper. I don’t think we use shooting as a way to just get out of the house. Although I do have a friend who does just that.Me to!

Having never even seen a Revere, and having had it on my list when I bought my S510 and again when bought my DRS, I'm interested in the comparisons, especially with the HW100 and S510 that I own. I only shoot from the bench, full power .22 pellets only, mainly CPHP 14.3 gr, at silhouettes to 160 meters. That is a very different application from most shooters'.
I'm not the greatest fan of the S510 because it is "backwards" inserting the magazine from the left, which I hate. It's counterintuitive and breaks my rythim. It also means not using a parallex wheel because if the range of parallex adjustment I need. The automatic magazine advance, shared idea with the HW100, is a pain at best. I was part of magazine design and now use spring-advanced/typical magazines. It also should avoid the chinsey magazine leaf spring use by the S510. Another S510 magazine issue, and why I don't use the original magazines at all, is that the first pellet falls out if the magazine is inverted.
To avoid that happening, the cassette can be rotated slightly out of time, but has to be reindexed before inserting the magazine or the magazine will not advance.
That the automatic advance for both S510 & HW100 just advance after the magazine is empty is really annoying, IMO.
The S510 is much bulker and heavier than my FX Streamlines and DRS, about like my Kral Mega that I no longer own. IDK why the weight and bulk are significant as I only shoot from the bench and bags but it just is. I waflle between keeping it as the 4th gun, and selling it in favor of something else, likely an Impact.
On the other side, the S510 is very accurate, directly competitive with the FXs, can't take anything away there. or its appearance. Noise level is similar to the Streamlines, quieter than the S510 or HW100. We aren't allowed silencers in Canada, so the Streamlines and S510 are remarkably quiet compared to some other PCPs.
I sold my HW100 because it was difficult and expensive to service. The flat disk magazines are quite easy to load, and also easy to extract a pellet if loaded in reverse. IMO, they are the best original magazines and compare well with the best aftermarket magazines in function. Cost of parts, overcomplicated and difficult to service , plus a dealer who was less than satisfactory.... that was a sale that I doubt ever regretting.
As I said, I have had the Revere on the spreadsheet, at least twice so it would be great to hear some candid comparisons, especially with some context as to applications and how it served.

Get the HW100, yes I’m a fanboy. Servicing isn’t that big of a deal for me a few o rings just like any other PCP. The magazine is great, no springs to go bad covers misaligned etc. trigger is best in the business when properly set up. Shot count as mentioned can be greatly improved with a bigger aftermarket cylinder. The cylinder can be remover while pressurized also. They are also fairly easy to tune although not the most powerful. I keep the .177 under 20 FPE and the .22 at about 30 FPE. The Canadian airgun forum has a store and are in stock there for really low prices . I believe Dan does ship to the US.

Since I was in no rush to purchase I waited until the Blackwolf started to tempt me. Now Im just waiting for someone to say it’s worth overspending on in 177 before I pull the trigger. The other options are still on the table but I got the buy what you want and be happy with it ,no need to get five more guns like those other idiots. Still not sure who she was referring to.
