* Choices FX M3 * Choices The Compact or 600MM

PLEASE chime in on which configuration you prefer, Please!

So torn, on short size w/ 500MM & smaller bottle for short compact......OR 600 mm barrel and 480 bottle/med length........

Shot count / bottle not an issue

* LQQK'n to push .25 @ approx 980 FPS.........New M3 platform is capable w/34 grn knock outs *even in pushing the 500mm barrel albeit 600mm would be easier!

* Goin' W/Sumo via Donnyfl...so this again adds length......Jus to add to the confusion .

* Which config. you want for a strictly hunting & walking / stalking...Not a car hood shooter platform!

Thanks Very Much, Guys.

Blackpaw..............Yep!...C this is why torn.......Compact will do it albeit @ outer limits of adj. and weight is right at about 6lbs. 600mm comes w/ larger tank and oviously longer more weight.

All Black in X configuration....a bit more "Macho" IMO albeit Bronze is OK

Still Please more opinions guys, not looking to change out later i.e. Barrels...Thanks!

For hunting? Compact is the way to go IMO. It is so much more manoeuvrable, and the power is there.

Keep in mind that without moderator it is way too loud. Run the reg at about 140-145bar, add a moderator and you will have a very powerful, light, silent and compact sweetheart.

I think my compact might look familiar to @Blackpaw ;)

@checkursix, yes, I know what you mean. I use to have an MKII compact in 22 and with scope and bipod it came in at 9 lbs, but that was an AccuTac bipod, which is over a pound itself. With the MK3 compact it is short enough you can put it in a medium or so sized backpack. My needs are that of a hunter, stalker, and so guns like my Taipan Vet Compact is perfect for me.

My next rifle I want below 27 inches, if I can help it.

I would get the shorter barrel and smaller cylinder if a “strictly hunting & walking / stalking…Not a car hood shooter platform”. Especially since you said “Shot count / bottle not an issue”. Why would you want the longer, heavier setup for that application? Either one will have plenty of power and accuracy for small game hunting.

No offense meant, but you seem a little indecisive. Just pick one, start shooting, and have fun!

ToKeepAndBear............. (ARM's)

No offense taken Believe me, and encouraged.......

Soooooooo IMO Nutt'n is forever......& LQQK'n down the road at possible up-grade / resale and econ 101 / demand...which can I sell quicker when it comes to up-grading .... the indecisive part is simply a matter of education and eliminating UN-foreseen variables

Yes, I put the Taipan over the MKII. The Taipan hits like a hammer and the trigger is probably one of if not the best. My buddy was all FX until he used my Taipan for a turkey shoot, literally, two turkeys taken out through the brain box he went out and bought a Taipan Vet Long.

Plus Taipans are rough and tumble that is why I am leaning towards EdGun for my next gun, after that maybe an M3 in 25 cal 600 for a bench gun not a field gun. Advantage of the Impact is its “ease” of adjustability and barrel changing options. But the Taipan is a purpose built. My Taipan Vet Compact is 23.5” long and does 50 ft/lbs with a 34 King Heavy.

Blackpaw;

The 50 ft lbs is a bit anemic for ME..In my personal opinion...Sadly........70 t0 80 ft/lbs .....seems I will get less Rainbow/flatter / velocity w/ M3 in .25 w/ JSB Knock Outs at 34grn.

The added size Plen. and additional adjust ability ease plus still light weight config....pushes me to the M3.......Have a " killer " Old School Leopold Cross Hair CLEAR 3 X 10 50MM w/Cross Hairs only....most shooting done on the fly or Tree hold/brace @ approx 75 to 100 yards......short range mill dot Not required Jus CLEAR and great light gathering...outside of cross hair is all that is needed........Not paper punching!

Light Weight Gloss Black scope weighing in at 13 OZ..........package can go out at less than 7 LBS......

Weatherby:

WOW Nice of you to show the Visual............Now maybe others can Chime on the aesthetics.THANKS

So what is the Mod model and Mfg. on the Compact?

May I ask what cal are those? .25 vs .22 would be a lighter gun because of less metal in barrel ~:)

They are both 22cal, M3 700mm slug A liner, MK2 compact 500mm superior liner.

The Mod is a Huma mod40-4, but I removed 1 segment to make it more compact.

After the reg pressure increase, I did not feel the need for the extra segment, it is plenty silent enough with 3 segments.

A 25 caliber under 24 inches shooting 50 fpe has got to be SWEET. I think a 25 around 50 fpe is a very nice small game hunting setup. My Marauder 25 has a balanced valve and shoots Hades at 48 fpe, is easy to cock, and is quiet. Squirrels and chipmunks hate it! I think a short 25 shooting at 70-80 fpe would be pretty loud CUS.

@checkursix, it is what I had available. I have been living in the Netherlands for the last 3 years, and these birds were taken when I was home in Idaho in March. Trust me I plan bigger. When I was home in March the rock chucks just started to come out, but I didn’t want to take out the breeding stock, or people here convinced me not to.

Here is what my buddy did with MY Taipan before he got his own, air rifled turkey. I was a proud parent. Anyways,, I don’t want to hijack, but 25 is a versatile caliber. https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/proud-parent-my-taipan-takes-down-a-turkey/
