I normally use 177 for chippers. Today the 22 was closer to me. Chippers are easy to kill humanely if you can get a head shot or heart&lung shot. The challenge is to catch them sitting still. They actually do a lot of that but all we see is them running through the lawn at high speed.

Since I shoot from high ground into the woods, my shot angle is very safe. I tune my guns to be fairly fast. My 177 DreamTact Compact is @900FPS for JSB 10.34gr. High speed ensures the pellet exits the chipmunk. All my chipmunks are shot within 40/50 yards. There is no lead poisoning when other animals eat them.
