This chicken thief was taken at 25 yards with the Air Arms TX200 MkIII using an H&N Baracuda Green .22, 12.65gr pellet. https://goo.gl/photos/dRD9xQcnWHDdYcCL7
The muzzle velocity is 790fps at 17.53ft/lbs. At 25yds the velocity drops to about 640fps at 11.5ft/lbs. It's not the power, it's all about shot placement.
WOW! great shot gamyrick, good looking thief as well I would get that tanned myself! How is the accuracy with the green pellets? i hope that we ever end up green pellet only but you never know, I would like to be a head of that learning curve if possible! thanks for sharing with us! Jonathan
The .22 Baracuda Green is the most accurate pellet I've tried with my TX200. It's also considerably harder than lead which provides for excellent penetration. I put the pellet behind the ear and he dropped immediately. After about 3 seconds his tail began to helicopter like a rat's tail. He convulsed once and went limp.
+1 on .22 H&N Green as the most accurate lead free pellet I've tried. This said, the same pellet also resulted in the most unbelievably bad groups after I lubed them. So, I'd suggest caution using them with smooth twist barrels. Details here: http://airgunnation.dev/topic/how-to-un-lube-pellets-and-my-worst-groups-ever/
thanks for the tips, I might give them a go I might not as I have heard the same regarding them being extremely hard alloy and the barrels and riffling in a air rifle just were not built to handle that and I think that they may ware out fast with a steady diet of green pellets ...thoughts? Jonathan
I've been using the Baracuda Green pellets for several years and I haven't had any problems. Back in 2010 or 2011, I contacted Lothar Walther in Georgia, USA and asked them if the tin pellets would harm my barrel and they said no. [email protected]
