Check valve for Air compressors

As you know, when filling a tank using an air compressor, you have to increase the pressure inside the compressor to match the pressure inside the tank before opening the line to fill the tank.

My question is whether this valve is already doing this or I need to install a check valve. Here is the valve that I use:

I don't see a need for a separate valve. Sometimes the foster fitting has a check valve inside, but its not necessary. The tank valve can do it's job if you manually close it in the proper sequence. Once the compressor is at 3000 psi approximately you open the tank. The tank fills to 4500psi, then you stop the compressor. Shut the valve on the tank, then bleed the compressor lines, trapping the air inside the tank.

The male nipple has a check valve to fill the tank. Makes it real easy. Yes if you use the male nipple to fill tank and the knob/hose to fill guns, thats exactly whats happening.

I use 1 of these when im filling my tanks. You need to have a pressure relief valve on your tanks to release pressure to remove the hose when done filling. Normally most tank valves have a knob to release the pressure when you are done filling. This way I can attach that fitting to the end of my fill hose and just open my tank valve and it wont affect the pressure on the compressor because it wont allow the air back into the compressor. Fitting is from best fittings and is a 1 way fitting. They make them with a male/male as well. I warn you if you have this fitting on your fill hose and try to fill a gun, there will be no way to remove the hose since you can't release the pressure, so only use it for filling tanks.

Where did you get that you can't open tank valve until pressure builds to equal tank pressure in compressor 1st? Never heard that before. Once compressor's pressure equalizes to that of tank it will overcome it and start to fill. If one has a one way check valve on tank fill adapter you can open tank valve before even starting compressor! Before I had the check valve I'd start compressor, close bleed valves, open tank valve. No problem.

One way valve for filling scba tanks.

I am asking this because I am tired of watching the pressure rise then shut off my compressor before i can open the valve on the bottle. I have a vent valve on my fill whip and I have a vent valve on my pump so why can't i use a one way valve inline so I can open my tank and not hurt the pump...

One way valve required, not sure about your setup.
Looks like about 20 bucks to make one

You just hook up compressor to foster. The valve opens when pressure is greater from compressor that what’s in the tank. You can also daisy chain your tanks for tethering with that valve. I also fill them the same way. Hook it up to the one at the end, and it will fill all tanks to what ever the compressor is set at

Yes, but is foster also a valve? As far as I know there is no one way valve in my setup right now.
