What about rebuild kits who do you go to and are they according to date also. Would you go with the high power or lower power to ease up on the spring recoil
On the real early guns, they have really tight or kinda out of round tubes. Those do best with the lower power kits.
Yours is a later model, and I've noticed they have bigger tubes and work well with low and higher power kits.
I have the "slightly softer" kit in my ancient one and it shoots smooth at 10.5fpe. Which truth be told, is what they were rated for originally. My kit is from Air Rifle Headquarters, as well as the seal. Sizing the seal correctly is very important on these rifles to make the correct power.
You used to be able to buy just a factory size spring on ebay, but not sure about now. The factory spring has a ton of preload, and absolutely requires a spring compressor to install. The kits from Air Rifle Headquarters are easier, but still need a compressor to ensure the safety gets in right without binding the safety spring.
I made some modifications to my setup such as lightening the piston and adding a rear delrin bearing to the skirt and a FEP piston sleeve. Shoots very smooth.
