N/A Cheapest option for groundhogs

Well, I need to post 10 times to DM on the classifieds, so might as well ask about what I'm here for. I need to get rid of about 5 or 6 groundhogs. Plenty of open space in my yard, I've read .25cal is ideal, but .22 cal is usable. I don't hunt; I only need it for pests. What's the most inexpensive option for dealing with them effectively?

EDIT: Someone suggested opening up the yard to local hunters, so if you're in the Pittsburgh area drop me a line.

There is/was? a .25cal Hatsan AT44 in the classifieds for $200 that would do the trick. They are pretty bombproof in my experience.
Thanks. I couldn't find the AT44, but I found this jet for $250. Not sure that it is the right tool for the job:

Also considering this gamo urban, only downside is it's a .22:

You need a little more power then that urban is set at. The jet is a 20 yard gun and not very accurate. On the cheap there is these in the classifieds. Lightweight , accurate, easy to hand pump. https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/stoeger-xm1-22-pcp.1302751/

.25 is more forgiving but .22 is definitely capable if placement is good. I learned on a AT44, .22. Got me out to 70ish yards (what I was comfortable with at the time). Some of the newer, less expensive guns now easily outshoot the AT44. Keep posting & Keep watching the classifieds. Sooner or later you'll find something better.

Id look at a Barra 250z I think. Something like an Urban will work, but your range will be limited to about 60yds max due to the lower power. A Kratos or Cayden from AR would also be a good option.

Where are you located at? There are members all over, I am sure there would be one of us that would let you try a few different guns. As well as calibers
Pittsburgh, but I don't really need to make this a long-term investment.

Thanks, that's a nice suggestion. Saved.

One consideration is an air supply. With pcp you gonna need compressor or a tank and both options will go as far as you max credit limit lol. Pcp air shooting is not cheap. I dont want to discourage you but for a few pests i would think its not worth it. On the other hand its a great hobby and alot of fun. But 1 air gun turns into a pile of them and next thing you know your hooked. I started with a .25 avenger and a 150 amazon compressor and now have a vulcan 3 hp .30 with a full corbin press setup and a gx cs4i. Went from $700 investment and now im in deeper than i ever thought. But once agian it is fun. And pellets holly smokes a tin goes super quick. Next thing you know several hundred dollar in pellets. Bur lots of fun good luck my friend

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of using a hand pump.

May not need a long term investment, but you may make a long term friend that will let you borrow a rifle when you need it. Have borrowed my rifles to friends from time to time. And once they are filled, they are able to take more than a few shots to take care of the problem critters.
