Cheap FX chronographs..

The FX chronographs archery edition is the same as the standard v1 except for mount. It uses the same app and records shots as the v1 does.
I picked one up at Utah Airguns for $50 brand new. It is a heck of a deal for a great quality chronograph. I just used velcro on the top of the chrono to attach to the air cylinder when I need it. Fantastic deal but it wont last.. They are moving and have a lot on sale.
When I installed the app, I chose the Fx V1 as the device when installing the app and it works fine. You just cant upgrade the firmware.

Awesome! Thanks I was putting several single tins of pellets to test out on my latest falls down the rabbit hole. So another Chrony of a completely different type seemed like just what I needed.

The Chrony Collection:
5 cheap Chinese talking and wifi Chrony (all different spacing for mounting on various size moderators)
2 cheap non talking Chrony
Alpha Shooting Chrony
Beta Shooting Chrony
Caldwell Chrony

Yeah, I couldnt believe the price myself. But I have mine and have been extremely happy to get one at such a fantastic price. The app is the same regardless of edition. The website mentions it works up to 1300 FPS, while the FX packaging says 1099FPS, so it would probably not work with powderburners unless you were using subsonic ammo, but for air rifles and archery it is an incredible deal.
You need to use AAA batteries with it versus the V2 that has rechargeable, but that is a small price to pay. Utah is the only place selling them at this price because they are moving, so dont procrastinate if you are in the market.
FYI it does not say archery on it anywhere, the only difference seems to be with the mount being geared toward archery, which is nothing a Velcro strip wont fix. A 3D printed bracket will work too and plans are available online.

Can always pick some rechargeable AAA if someone absolutely needs them....

Slight work around to the batter issue but has more wires.

Great idea if you already rock a digital scope, illuminator and range finder.. a single larger battery is easier to manage.
Otherwise, Lithium batteries in this chrono should last quite a while. Lithium have a better power curve for electronics, but when they die, they tend to go abruptly without gradual reduction that battery monitors use to alert you.
I don't have enough experience with it to know the battery life, but the batteries are behind a cover that uses a screw to retain it.

When attaching to the gun, dont attach it to the barrel as that will impact the harmonics when removed. If you site it in attached to the barrel, when you remove it, it will impact the shot placement. I have it velcroed to the bottle on my SK19.

The effect on barrel harmonics had me concerned as well if wrapped on the barrel. I'm not too concerned about shifting zero when testing slugs and different speeds but like you said the harmonics may be a factor when trying to maximize accuracy.

I tried to Google images of ppl using a small tripod or a base for them but didn't see any. There are some attachments for bottle guns which would work on my M60B.

For $50 though I can't complain, I've used my Caldwell Chrono for years but it's finicky.

Caldwell Error 3?
I hate that. Must be aligned just perfectly.

The top option.. DONT do any upgrades of the firmware. That is what works for me..
I set it up in the basement and used my PP700 shooting 22cal. Predator GTOs.
It worked!! It didn't pickup every shot, but I wasn't holding the pistol exactly the same each time. Too close to the top of the chrono seemed to cause the most missed readings. 👍
