Hi folks! a time ago I purchase a Mk1 from ASG (slightly cheaper rebrand from the model from KJW, no apreciable differences) cause It's cheap and I want to experiment with it and 3D printing. I wanted a somehow strong (for plinking standars) pistol, more precise than your regular Co2 BB gun thanks to the hop up system from airsoft. It would be a bad idea to shoot metal 6mm bb out of a brass barrel, but Aliexpress sells 6mm cristal BB that could give a respectable punch. I also wanted the green gas version cause I already have some Co2 plinkers.
I like the gun, and it's 450-500+ fps out of the box, not allowed on airsoft fields unless tuned down, but that speed is with light plastic bb, not metal ones, the rated power is 1.3 Joule. Well, the other day I was testing it after some tweaks, I have the old mag version that's suposetly much more powerful, I don't even touch the valve or anything, just correcting design flaws, filing the extra length of the chamber and puting a O-ring to beter acomodate the bb etc... I improved a lot the trigger pull doing that, but it should not give any major difference on power. Thing is, at the end of the test sesion, I shoot a glass cup that I use to store the plastic bb just to end the remaining gas.
The ammo I was shooting is standar 0.20 6mm round balls, not cristal, not metal.... and the glass cup just exploded with one shoot. Well... that's unexpected, specially because I shoot the same glass cup type with lead .177 out of a 3.5J Co2 pistol, with extended barrel giving 5-6 joule, and the impacts don't even leave a scratch on it. Those are thick as hell glass cups, they come with the chocolat nutella equivalent on my country, they are heavy and practically indestructible, yet, a stupid .20 PLASTIC bb out of a green gas (150 psi of working pressure) make it explode.... WTF.
I know there will be some weird balistics and material properties on the table, but I'm still impressed, I'm very excited to mod the crap out of the gun starting to make a detachable barrel extender and using cristal ammo, do you imagine a legit power plinker working with cheap green gas?
I shoot one of those glass cup as part of a trick depicting an old soviet psiquic experiment in a crappy KGB apartment, I wanted the glass to explode at the end, so I have a cable atached to my leg and the pistol with extensor fixed and aiming at the glass out of camera (my psiquic powers aren't enough to break the glass), of course with a thick panel bloquing any turn on the trajectory to me if something whent wrong, cause I'm not THAT stupid, and I have to give up after 3 attempts and just leave the video with a crappy movement on the glass resulting of the impact instead:
Funny thing, the movement on the cutted thing over the scissors on the table was not part of the trick.
