"Chainmail" Back Stop

I read a discussion on chainmail as a backstop some time ago. Not even going to try to find it or figure out what forum it was on. Regardless, I looked around at hobbyist chainmail, all I could find on line was related to 'knight' reenactment stuff. Found nothing that I recall on a 'commercial' product. In that venue, it was crazy expensive given that we were going to shoot it. :)

The thought that kept coming to mind for me was the connecting links between the rows of chain (keeping the chain from seperating/swinging) They all used copper or steel rings on most links.... That's overkill for us (and would get messed up pretty quickly). But I bet you could eliminate some pass thru by running some wire horizontally thru the links on each layer so the individual chains swung less. The wire would break eventually and you'd have to experiment with how much to run but it might work/help. I was going to try it but realized I have plenty of space and noise isn't an issue so it was likely to be yet another project I bought the supplies for and put in another box in the corner of my garage (there are several...)

Nice job.

Anyone wanting to try this and looking for lower cost materials might do well to stop by your local thrift store(s) for old tire chains. Set's for a large truck were marked $2.00 here lately.

For those of us who cant weld I think chain - and I like a catch pan type thing- seems like a very thoughtful idea.

Thanks for shring.
