CH tuned .25 Cricket vs Edgun R5M long question

Just a general question for owners of both. I really like my CF tuned cricket. Makes great power and is very accurate with the JSB 25.4's and AA 25.4's. This is my hunting rifle. As much as I like the cricket, it would be nice to have a forward located cocking lever. It seems like it is in a much better position for comfort as well as repeat shots. I am considering selling the cricket and getting the R5M. Seems to be able to make similar power and accuracy plus the forward located cocking lever. Is it worth switching, or just keep the cricket?

Both have LW barrels. Regulators maybe the nod goes to Cricket? Weight goes to Edgun. Can slim down the Cricket. Safety or lack of Edgun wins. Power goes to the Cricket, not needing added plenum.(If your not shooting the 33.95's your missing out) Simplicity of design and ease of tuning - maintenance ? both have great vids and info available. Both rock solid reliability. Side lever forward nice, Your not going to win speed silhouette with the gun, and your not in a fire fight. Shooting the 25.39's at low 900 fps results will be pretty close. Tune your Cricket to 60 foot lbs. energy shooting 33.95's and fall in love with gun all over again.

Can’t speak for the Edgun, but I have the Power Tunned CF .25 This thing shoots the 34grs at ~ 930fps. Last time I did the math it gave me about 62fpe. That is .30 Cal territory.

I too don’t like the rear lever, but you know what, I learned to not really care really fast. The thing is very accurate too. I don’t have long distance shooting results for you as it’s a relatively new rifle to me and I have neither the range nor the time. But most folk are hitting 1” spinners at 100.

What really pulls me towards Edguns is the reputation for ease of service. But, I live a short drive from GAs, so for now, it’s KGC for me.

Yes I had mine shooting at 920 FPS, but it was a little confusing to me. I like a 20 yd zero, and that puts the second zero at around 60 yds. the arch distance in the center was a little shy of two inches. By down tuning it slightly to 885 FPS the .25 shoots at the same zero as a standard .22 shooting the 18.1's at that same speed. Your arch in the mid ranges is about 3/4". This using med mounts and the same scope. Edgun West does a great video explaining the superior BC you get by turning DOWN the velocity. The compact in .177 shooting the 10.3's will give you just about the same zero shooting at 920 FPS. At 5 10 and 15 yards your hold over is about 1 3/4" 1" and 1/2" this is close enough for minute of dead on most pests. I found this to be way less confusing, especially with all mounted and scoped the same. As you get older things get muddled, like Polygrip, Pepsodent, and Preparation H they all start with a (P) without glasses and a hangover things can get challenging in the morning.

Traded it to a friend, it rides daily in a tractor. He says something like "prying it from his cold dead hands" I liked the feel but at about 20 fpe it lacks the stopping power for woodchucks. Your .22 Cricket carbine that Mike aka Centercut ended up with has the same tube and barrel length as the compact .22. I lack the Reg tester made by [email protected] I did most of the tuning by digital measurement on the reg, and a pizza cut with a Dremel tool on the reg. I lost track of who I got the idea from on Youtube. Years back Ernest was kind enough to spend a lot of time with me on the phone. The internal guts are all identical on the various calibers. Not much experience with guns besides Marauders, and Disco's. I have a Sumatra with a slow leak. still looking for an in depth take down of that gun online.

I just love my cricket. With plenum and tuned for heavys mk2 at 920fps with homemade carbonfibre shroud and ldc. The only thing i hear is the mechanigs in the rifle.
