CE vs DOT CF tanks due for hydro

I've got a few small carbon fiber tanks that came on EU airguns (mostly 480cc/250 bar). That say they need to be hydro'd every 5 years. I've got a tool to remove the valve, but... I have other questions:

1. Will hydro-testing shops test tanks that are only CE certified (opposed to DOT certified)?
2. Do hyro-testing shops have the necessary adapter for these small bottles?

1. A lot of US shops will only do DOT stuff
2. PROBABLY not if the fittings are not commonly used in breathing air equipment.
NOTE: Don't take this as gospel, just in my experience.

Just call and ask the hydro places you want to use , but like said above dot is usa so usa shops my shy away from them . Pretty sure they will .

All you can do is contact whoever and have them spell out there policy.

I have read, perhaps here, that 500cc and under are exempt from testing. I have no idea if this is correct though.

In Canada 1 liter and below no need hydro and every scuba shop would fill. But the CE or any non American standard bottles no one will do. This why I got myself a YH and filling my own acecare (aliexpress) also four 14 liter scba made somewhere in very early 2000's

I say this only because I read a post or two here where ce tanks were tested to the wrong pressures. Maybe I read the posts wrong but after the tanks were tested they started to leak. Basically the tanks that were initially good were tested, and damaged, then returned to the customer. Make sure the tank is only tested to the maxed test pressure to re-certify for the ce tanks if they are CE tanks. If the shop will only certify for DOT specifications, specify the pressures for the ce tanks to be tested at. If they cannot do that I would not bother re testing the ce tanks. Your searches will be better than what I can do for this.

Seeing as how they are Euro certified, perhaps the retesting requirement is just for the EU or country of manufacture?

Is there not a DOT reg. stating that pressure vessels under a certain diameter need no hydro?

Do not hydro tanks that are on the guns all of mine say INSPECT every 3 or 5 years meaning pull the valve and run a bore scope inside look for corrosion and small cracks in the thread and valve areas. The only people that can properly test these type tanks use Accoustic Wave equipment.

I don’t think they would hydro any tank that wasn’t dot cert to begin with. Would have to check but I’d be surprised if they would.

Great question by the way. I literally just got a new tank delivered yesterday with a CE sticker on it. Had not considered the DOT inspection thing when I purchased it.

I justs checked with my local scuba shop in San Diego and was told that they can only work on DOT tanks. Not on CE
