What distance from the muzzle seems to have the fewest errors? Bored and just ordered one to use indoors at work on the weekends. It is currently 18* outside and will stay that way for awhile. Thanks for your help.

I found that 1 ft. for 25fpe and up worked well. Lower energy levels you could move a little closer. Biggest issue indoors will be good overhead lighting. You can buy lighting kits for them or you can "create" your own setup. A search here will turn up a lot of different ideas to "DIY".

Thank you Bruce, just what I was looking for. Going to be shooting 17- 23 ft/lbs rifles next weekend if the chronograph comes in. Ordered the indoor lighting kit as well. Bought them off Optics Planet after 5 minutes of price digging. Same price as amazon and amazon doesn't need my money.
Guess I will start at 9" and see how it goes. Will be shooting .177's and .22's to break in/ sight in and get some base lines as new.

I generally keep my ProChrono at about 2 feet simply out of habit and get few errors but probably no issue to be closer. LIghting angle causes the most errors for mine (late day/early morning means more errors while sun more overhead gives very few errors).

12"-36" works for me. Having the infrared light kit also helps. I don't know why I didn't get one sooner. Here's an older thread I posted when I had the same question.
