Caution - Potential scammer on Gunbroker

I stumbled across these two listings by tsbc501 on Gunbroker.

Both listings are for an HW50s, one is listed as a .177, the other has no caliber listed. Both listings use the same exact pictures and offer next to nothing as a description.

The user has some feedback, but has neither bought or sold on GB for over a year, or at least received no feedback since then.

I believe the account may have been legitimate, but it has possibly been hacked. I have asked a few questions from the seller, but I haven't received a response yet.

Did you report your suspicions to Gunbroker? That's the best way to handle the matter. The GB admins take scamming very seriously. You'd be right to let them know.

I got a response from said seller during his previous listing where the reserve was not met. The current listing is a repeat. Probably with the same reserve. I think the listing with no caliber mentioned is a mistake. Likely will be canceled.

Scammers normally offer a tgtbt low price. Not a high reserve. Once again, IDK

I asked him if he ever took it apart. He said he bought it from pyramid as a refurbished. And he didn’t know if they might have opened it up.
I’m a little reluctant to buy air guns that owners took apart. I noticed the pivot bolt was a little bit buggered. And a scratch in the stock beside it.
I don’t like other people working on my things. Butchers.

At least he responded, and you're right about the pricing. Just looked odd to me and thought I'd se what others thought.

That's my bid on it. I wanted to see if he lowered the reserve. I personally won't pay much more for a used gun when I know where to get a new one for almost what the last auction ended at. If you add sales tax that GB now charges. And shipping. I don't care about the stock or sights. I am getting a Custom Stocks UK thumbhole for it.

Then again, in the original post I said that I emailed the seller and asked some questions and hadn’t heard back.

On GB, the new guys tend to make a lot of mistakes when selling. The guy in question only has 8 feedbacks. He's new. I don't think he's a scammer, just new to GB and their processes.

All is well, looks like I was a bit jumpy from all the recent scamming going on. I heard back from the seller who said it was mistake that it got posted twice and the extra listing has been removed.

Good to be careful. I think on my next gunbroker or classifieds purchase, I am going to ask them to send me a picture of the gun with several fairly unsual items that would be in a gun photo like a spatual or a stapler. I guess you could require an id or even a bill with their name and address on it shown with the gun.

I had a very bad experience on GB years ago as a new buyer, when a very established GB airgun seller sold me a collectors grade Daisy 25 after I called him for assurance everything was correct with it, making a special point to ask him about the function and correctness of the removable shot tube, an important feature of a vintage 25. He had the gall to send it with a beat up CORK BALL Tube instead of the correct 50 shot tube.
We went round and round and when I finally gave him a D sellers rating after he lied to me multiple times , he blatantly lied again that the the gun in question was checked and tested before shipping and he was " very disappointed in this buyers comments " and gave me an F buyers rating in retaliation. Now I would be embarrassed to try to buy anything on GB.

Never tried it but Gunbroker says you can issue a response to feed back. If this feature is correct, at least if you bid, the seller can see your rating picture a little bit better and may not block you. However that really sucks what that vendor did to you. Gunbroker customer service is very bad from the replies on the firearm forum I go to. Many have sworn off it.
