Cat / Tank is in the bag, soon at least

So i got a few good advises here about a bag for my new carbon fiber tank that would not break the bank.
But i was looking around and found a even cheaper alternative i have pulled the wallet on.

The bag are originally intended for a SUP board, so it is a bit oversize with 80 X 40 X 22 CM measurements, and my bottle are just 60 Cm tall including the valve and just 17 CM in Diameter.

So the surplus space inside i have in mind for also storing ammo - tools and the fill kit, mainly in smaller plastic boxes i think.
I will also have to fabricate a light framework to hold the tank in place, and some foam padding to fill excess space so there is no stuff rattling around.

The price for this black beauty was just 199 Dkkr / 30 USD.

I think it will be something i can work with, and unlike now have 1 arm free for other stuff.
It is not as fancy as some brand alternativer in a much higher price range, but i am not in this to look good i am here to shoot good, and of course as always have a good old time.

You would think so with all the people from the deserts of the world living in Denmark hookahs was more of a thing, but i have never seen anyone smoke on one.
Either have i ever tried even if i know of them when i was a pot head, though as i understand hashis is not what is generally smoked on those things.

Searching a little, yes there seem to be alternatives there too, and not too pricey either.

Okay so i got the bag today, and i have brain stormed a little over how to set it up.

What i have some up with is a backplate and attached in a 90 deg angle to that a bottom plate and 4 longitudinal brace plates connecting those 2 parts too, in between those i will get a 7 CM big gap on either side of the bottle, which is my plan to use for storage, and so there get 4 drawers 7 CM wide - 19 CM deep and 33 CM high, that should be enough to store all i need of AMMO - Tools - fill kit - Chronograph ASO .

There will still be a large empty space at the top, above all of this, but i have no immediate plan about what to make of that.

My initial plan was to make some baffles with a hole in them the tank could slide down into, but i have changed my mind, the tank will attach to the back plate with two smaller ratchet straps.

As for materials for the support frame inside the bag i am along the lines of lightweight plastics ( PVC ) in 10 MM thickness, so i can screw + glue the parts together for a firm bond,
The footprint of the bag will then be 36 X 20 CM, so it should be able to stand up just fine on its own, well at least on a flat surface.

The listing of the bag seem off, my ruler say it is only 36 CM wide and not the listed 40 CM, but its OK i am sure i can have room for all i need.

Also if i go there, i might be able to have a fill kit permanently attached to the carbon fiber bottle, the support frame will be a little higher than the bottle itself, so it should be reasonable well protected.
But if i go there i will make a protective brace none the less to protect the fill kit and not least its gauge.

So far my feeling for the project is 100 %

This is really friggin smart and I can’t believe it never dawned on me. My other idea was to use a golf bag with wheels so you could easily roll it around.

I was along wheeled bag too, like for 3 Bowling balls, but was 3 X the price of what i have here ( so far )
Actually for a big wheeled bowling ball bag the price was more like 7 X more, and i think you would want big wheels with at least " some " off-road ability.

My internals will also not be cheap.

I whipped up a visual if PPL have problems reading my mind / writing,

I need / want to be able to have my ammo ASO in this bag too.
I use to carry the rifle in one hand ( in hard case ) then 12 L tank in the other hand, and then on the back my small backpack with my ammo box and various other things inside it.
So leaving home ( 2 floor apartment ) i was quite loaded, now i have less weight with the carbon bottle, and i can carry it on my back, and so have 1 free hand to close / open doors as i shuffle along.

I am also going along the lines of " off the shelf is fine,,,,, custom is even better "
And i have not seen any of you guys have something along these lines. ( now please do not post 10 years old pictures )

Okay so i got to do a little cutting today seeing as we was too wimpy to build on the new shot shed in the cold.
Later next week temps should be above the MIN setting temperature for the concrete we are setting the corner posts into.

Found out my friends very small circular saw running on batteries was plenty fine for cutting this PVC, so i have borrowed the saw and a battery charger so i am able to complete my tank in the bag project in the comfort of my living room.

Tomorrow i will go get some self tapping screws and some PVC glue so i can start assembling the project.
Also got to remember to buy a couple of tank straps, even if the 9 L carbon bottle are light weight, i also want to be able to carry my much heavier 12 L hybrid bottle instead of the 9L one.

The 4 drawers i have decided i will try to make in wood, so its not all plastic fantastic..

The savings ( vs say a 3 bowling ball bag ) will be modest TBH, but then i am sporting a custom range / tank bag and not just some off the shelf stuff.
That will go a long way at our 2 man range, CUZ my friend are just as much into being different as i am, so he will appreciate my efforts.

Things are coming together on my living room rable, clearly cutting the plastic yesterday i should have used some reading glasses to be able to see where the hell i put my marks, CUZ something aint right.

Mind you it is good enough for the purpose, so proceeding after a small break to let glue sort of keep up.
A table saw would have been nice / that is one large enough to cut these parts, but my friend only have a small dirt cheap one we have used building the G-scale railway also at the range.

Next up on the agenda is cutting the 4 partitions that will make up the 4 holes for my drawers that is to come later.

Just realized, the 4 small compartments, i might be able to size them to each house a cheap plastic pistol case.

That i think is the ways to go, these are enclosed with their own locking mechanise, and plenty large to hold things like : fill kit / tools / pellets / chrono / batteries and what not a intrepid shooter might need at the range.

JARMSTRONG, if I may offer assistance:

Cut out the lid to that bucket, and epoxy a one gallon bucket at the bottom center of the larger bucket, then surround the one gallon bucket with low expanding spray foam. The bottom of a one gallon bucket is at around 7 1/2”, and most tanks are at around 7 to 7 1/4”, so a perfect fit.

Your tank will never tilt within the large bucket and the lid keeps it more secure. I have all my tethering tanks set up like this for under the shooting bench, and the tanks that travel with me to events are on tank cradles and hand carry straps.(the original tank cradles made by AirHog, and unfortunately no longer available)

In our new shot shed i will also be customizing my bench, to accommodate my big tank bag, and i will probably also have to make a few shelves for the things i take out of the bag but will need sooner or later during the session.

The initial plan was to use the end wall for that as i will take the end position, but to get light in we will put large windows in either end of the shed.
But as the forward opening are going to be fairly small to not loose heat in winter, well it should be possible to make a shelf above the opening.

A observation i have made tonight, i dont think there is room for my fill kit on the bottle in there, i might have to take a saw to some of my work.

I an thinking one of those fill kits that screw into the tank instead of onto the valve on the tank.

Well that's just dandy.

On Saturday i got 2 brand new tie down straps to hold the tank in place, today i cant fine a single one of those

Fortunately i had a old sun bleached one lying in the window sill, so i was able to do something with that, but still need the lower one of the 2 i want to do the job.
The bottom strap will be going across where the Acecare branding is on the tank.
Also need some rubber the tank can stand on, and lean up against on the back side.

I have a feeling the 2 straps have slid off the codriver seat on the way home, and so are lying beside it and the door, ill look for that later today.
The boxes i have ordered to fill my cavaties, well i have not gotten a MSG that they have shipped, i dropped the pistol cases as the cheap one i found, well they just had 1.
So i found something else and then went into creative overdrive finishing up.

Though not complete, this bit of kit will get its baptism by fire on Wednesday when i go to test my new scope in the seemingly nice weather we will get.
But i might have to just throw some stuff in the holes to get by.

Got some boxes for stuff today, and dident waist a second loading them up.

ATM it is a bit of a mess, the plan is to have a box for light slugs and one for heavier, and then one for pellets i can throw in for one of those days. and of course one holding my tools.
Each plastic container hold 6 tins, so my back pack are suddenly as heavy as it is large
Also i still have not found a place to put my chrono and its batteries, but i will work something out for this most necessary tool.

Also the compartments on the Right, a bit smaller, those are for the little odds and ends that dont need a container, for instance as pictured Zan slug boxes fit fairly well, though not needed unless my shooting sessions go from OMG long and many shots to " OMG i think the guy grown 2 more arms and won the lottery, and is shooting 2 rifles at the same time "

About 1000 shots generally fit me well on a nice summer day.
So ! safe to say this pea shooter will NOT go down on ammo.

That will work for the hand People, but i need to have one free, hence why i load myself like a donkey on the back.
I have something with one finger on my L hand, its not fond of me carrying something heavy in that hand.
Of course visiting the doctor today i forgot all about getting a look at that, o well i will be back there in a few months.

If i was just moving stuff from a trunk to a bench, no problem, but i am moving stuff in and out of a 2 floor apartment to start with, the at the range part is a cake walk as i sit a few feet from my car most often.
