Carbon fiber tank filler

I purchased a 480cc carbon fiber tank filler/bleeder from some airgun supplier in the UK. The part came with a set screw that was screwed into the center through hole which is used for bleeding. It came with a minimal instruction that basically said the set screw was for bleeding but no further instruction. 

I’m betting that the set screw is screwed into the end that screws into the tank but the instructions wasn’t specific how far to screw it in. I’m thinking it screws in to a point of being flush with the bottle side of part, then you carefully screw the assembly into the tank until you hear air escaping. There is no bleed hole through the center of the set screw so escaping air goes past the lager thread clearance of the filler/bleeder.

Does anyone have the same device and am I correct on the bleeding portion of the filler/bleeder ?

I dont have one but I seen someone used it before. Its use so you can fill your bottle without having to put the bottle into a gun aka the fx impact. As far as I know there is and shouldn't be a bleed valve on that thing. You just screw that thing into your bottle and just fill it like you would fill any pcp gun. When its full you bleed off from your compressor or handpump. And just screw it off and put it into your gun. The bottle should have its own valve to prevent air from escaping.

Fully aware of how FILLING the tank works, am just not positive of the manufacturers specific procedure on bleeding. As picture shows below for possible bleeding, hex key goes through male Foster side and into set screw, set screw is then threaded into main piece until it’s flush, then you screw that assembly into the tank. Once fully screwed into tank the intent might be to slowly advance set screw with hex key to push in tanks valve button. That is what I’m trying to confirm.

I think you have the right of it Randy, it may be a way to bleed off tank without placing on gun. Airlines are picky about a hpa tank full of air, and that gives you a way to prove its empty without the big scary gun.

Yes you use a alen key to turn to screw it in. It then pushes on the one way valve in the bottle to bleed it. But why would you want to bleed the bottle? Isn't the point of that tank filler, to fill the bottle.

It is marketed as a “ filler/bleeder”. As Brent also said, in the event they were to be taken aboard aircraft you would need to bleed cylinder/s completely empty. 

For me, I needed to let some air out because the pressure in one of my tanks was too high for a particular rifle and wanted to drop it some.
