Can’t Remove Gauge! [Question]

Hello AGN,

I’m unable to unscrew my gauge to degass my Evanix Giant. I tried locking pliers which just marred the finish of the gauge 😞

I put some tape around it and tried it again but it’s just slipping…

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

(Also… yes I know the pliers are rusty I haven’t gotten around to getting them cleaned up, pretty sure they’re +50 years old)

I think you need to cinch down the vise grips a little tighter.. NOT REALLY! As recommended above pull the stock off and there will be some wrench flats on the stem of the gauge. Seeing how it's under very high pressure go slow Curious are you removing the gauge to bleed the pressure off of the air tube?
Yes, I want to remove and polish the barrel but I want to be safe and I realized I don’t know precisely how air is moves through the gun and one theory I had was the bolt pushing forward opens a valve from here and that’s where it is propelled from. Does it take the blue path and I can pull the barrel off, or does it take the red path and removing the barrel would result in a nice bang?
