can you use a centerfire scope on your Sprng gun or PCP gun?

yes, centerfire scopes are made to resist recoil, I do not see any springer recoiling more than a donno .308 centerfire or even a .22

There are different recoils going on in a magnum springer than just the backwards recoil of a .308. Most centerfire scopes can’t hold up to the forward recoil. There have been many articles about it over the years Tom Gaylord over at Pyramid Air has done some videos and articles on it. Good info to understand. I’m sure Joe Rea has a few videos on his YouTube about it too, Cyclops Videos.

PCPs have no recoil, so anything goes. The more important question is does the

parallax adjust close enough for airgun ranges? If you move you head and the crosshairs move over an inch on target you aren't going to be very accurate. Springers have double recoil that will kill scopes even some that the manufactures claim to be indestructible. if you get a magnum springer, get a scope with a good warranty.

JMO but even if a centerfire scope would take the double recoil of a springer or gas piston why put it on an air rifle. There are many air gun scopes for less than $100 that have adjustable parallax. I do a lot of shooting in my basement at 39 feet during the winter. You just can't shoot at that distance with a scope with a factory parallax set for 100 yards. I used to set my non AO leupolds down to 12 yards for indoor shooting and then back up to 50 yards when summer shows but I now buy UTG scopes and shoot any distance. You can get a Bug Buster or a True Hunter 3X9X32mm for about $75 if you shop around. They are air gun rated and come with a limited lifetime warranty and a pretty decent customer service department. And as was mentioned before you can put anything on a pcp but again why would you.

The only Vortex scope I know is rated for springers is the 4-12x40 AO Diamondback. I emailed that question to Vortex, and that was the answer. I think the warranty covers you in any case.

I'm a Vortex fanboy. I use the same rep that I have used for 12 years. Travis told me all Vortex scopes are airgun safe to use from the Razor on down.

My AA TX has had a Diamondback on it without fail for five years. Just for grins and to make the guys on the range say what the hell? I put one of my Razors on the TX; I had no problems at all.

As stated before, all Vortex products come with a transferable lifetime warranty. It would be a PIA to keep changing it out every time if it happened, but you would know to mount it on another gun. I do not see it happening. For what it's worth in my time running the range, I did see a Nightforce eaten by a springer after I started a challenge by putting my Razor on the springer.

Respectively Eamon,
